I started working from the age of 17. Then I joined for typewriting and shorthand lower and higher classes. After marriage, I attended some yoga classes, voice over classes and computer classes. Last week I attended know your pc class in which they taught about some hardware basics. Each time I feel happy to learn some new thing which I did not know earlier. Did you attend any classes to learn anything after started working or during your study time apart from regular classes? If so, what are the classes that you have attended and what did you learn in it? Please share your experiences.

That is great that you keep learning in your life. I love to learn the new thinkgs also, but sometimes I just do not have enough time and money to make it work. Saying the yoga classes, it is very expersive for one course. As per my economy right now, I did not have the extra money to learn about it. Comparied with your learning approach, I tend to buy variety of books to learn myself. It is ture that the effects will be definitely different for the self-study.

In some places yoga is taught freely. In TV yoga master Ramdev teaches yoga in a channel the name is Astha or something starting with A letter. He teaches very well. You can even buy his CD. When you have interest, you will get the path to learn friend.

Baba Ramdev is a man. He is internationally famous. He conducts workshops globally. His yoga is simple and very effective. Make internet search, you will get it. I attended one of his workshops, when he was in our city. Visit this site of Ramdev Baba.
http://divyayoga.com/freePranayamTraning.htm
There are some youtube videos in which Ramdev baba explains different yogas especially pranayamas. This is one of the videos.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e77exc7ukI
Please go through it. Go to their web site divyayoga.com and you can ask them where CDs are available in your place or how to get them in your language.

I have some nice experiences to share with you Buchi but it would be a long story.Once I narrated this to Deepak too.Well ! It starts now-
When I got married I did not know A,B,C,D of classical music. But I had a God given ear for music and good memory power and repriducing capacity.I used to sing film songs very well. But as soon as I got married I came to know that my people virtually condemned film music[my husband condemned it the first day saying it is all junk music[to quote his exact words it is Kuppai pattu].My fatherinlaw, husband and sistersinlaw knew classical music.I told my fahterinlaw that I would learn classical music in five years. After my son was born I had a master coming home and teaching me music.Iwas his favourite student and thsi was achieved through my God given ear for music. With my husband's encouragement I pursued music for quite some time and learnt a number of Varnams and difficult songs too.I was also fortunate to get a senior teacher teach me.This led to some girls come to me and ask them to train them[the songs that I sang at home could be heard outside the flat in which I lived].So I had a big group of students too.
Apart from this I have learnt about the stock market in a big way with expert assistance and imparting of knowledge from husband and my own practical experience.
Then I went to some classes where a teacher taught Vedantha Desika Stuthis.
After this, after coming to Mumbai I have been learning computer ,how to use MS Word efficiently and effectively[my son is my Guru here]
I am also like you. I like to learn something new but I do it in areas where I have a natural aptitude.

Very true. And today,I share some good film songs with my husband too and he also participates in the general appreciation given to Ilayaraja or A.R.Rehman.My son and and I are avid fans of Ilayaraja.Like what you said I got great moral support from myhusband[it was his encouragement that made me learn classical music and he is also proud of the way that I changed myself to suit his interest] in all my endeavours.
Who knows Buchi? We would be meeting some day I am sure.MyLOT is a great forum.

HI Aunty,
I started working at the age of 18 and completed my education through distance learning. After i finished my 10th std in holiday i joined for my typing classes and completed my junior grade i could not continue for senior grade as my +2 tutu ions started and i had no time to go and after started working i joined for embrodiary classes only for Saturdays to learn Kasuthi and Kutch designs. After this was completed i started going for yoga classes and i continued to go for 1 month, after that the yoga instructor got married and she was supposed to move to a different location so i could not continue.
Have a great day.

Yes, I am so lucky to have a supporting husband. Even after we get married I still enrolled in different skills enhancing program like House Keeping Course then Barista Course NCI then Culinary Arts. I enjoyed it a lot & learned from it but still I am planning to enroll in another course this summer break.

I haven't worked yet but I have joined some classes of out-of-shcool tuition.I have to join some exams so I received extra learning that include English, maths and so on.I don't like to take these classes and I don't think they are useful.Maybe they are just psychology comforts that you can know more than others who don't take these.Actually,I am willing to take dance classes but I am afraid I am a little bit old to learn dance now. :(~~~

Today I read in a paper that 61 year old earlier actress Hema Malini gave a big dance performance till midnight and enthrolled people in thousands. Have they not watched with interest a 61 year old dancing on stage? There is no age bar for learning art, let it be anything. When you have inclination, please start learning. Upload your dance programme in you tube and let me watch it with interest.

Hi Buchi, at the age of 17 I was still having my formal education. I started working at the age of 23. I attended typing class twice a week to lean the right technique of typing. I envied those who could type so skillful using both hands
It was really embarrassing to type with a single finger in the office. I felt really pleasant I could run my fingers freely and rapidly on the keyboard without looking at the letter after completing the course
We had inservice course regularly to enhance our working efficiency. Nowadays I'm no longer a working woman and don't have to attend any class related to work. Though I still had attended many others classes as well. Yeah, this is because I like learning new technique or knowledge which interest me. The latest class I had joined was the one held in the adjacent town. It's course about how to do trading and investment.
Happy posting
and take care.

Hai Ikbooi, from your response, I notice ever fresh enthusiasm in you in pursuit of acquiring new knowledge always on different subjects. Even at this age, you want input. That shows how energetic you are to learn things. I feel happy to note this. Keep it up my dear friend.

Hi Buchi_bulla, I am a late starter. :( Around 27. :( Joined a firm of auditors, while I was still doing my company secretarial course. I tried to learn German, couldn't really go beyond a few words. :) Then learnt computers, DOS in those days. Thereafter, learnt programming in Dbase, Cobol, and Unix. Even VB and Oracle (I dont know one bit of it now - except logics). he he. While on job I learnt autocad, which was rather fun. Of course since I worked with auditors, I learnt about accounts, finance, and companies act. That's it. Not much to me I am afraid. :)
