How do you think of topics to write about?

Do you write about just whatever comes to mind, in a blog-esque sort of way, or do you write about human interest topics? Politics? Sports? Your hobbies? I'm trying to think of a creative way to keep my creative juices flowing. . I just started at this site (and I'm super excited about it..) and I have about 5 ideas for articles as it goes. But beyond that, how do you continue to come up with ideas? Do you use MyLot as an inspiration?

I actually wrote an article on this very subject. Here is the link: http://www.ehow.com/how_4606169_ideas-ehow-articles.html It really depends on what I am writing about. If I am just writing a short piece with not much information to share I write it for Ehow in the 'How To' format. If, on the other hand, I have alot of information about the subject then I write it in full article format for Associated Content.

Hi Maezee, I always thought of discussions based on experience and and all about life...i also consider how i will make the title catchy for mylot users to respond on. i too make it simple, that people will be excited to respond for it's in a way not complicated. that's how i start my discussion.

I don't write at Associated Content nearly as much as some do, but I write constantly for other places and reasons. I find inspiration on myLot sometimes, but I find it in conversations elsewhere, too. I think finding things to write about is a mindset more than anything. Think of what you've done today. Every day there is something worth writing about. Did you shop for something? Review it. Did you take your child to school? Write about the dangers of children walking to school alone. Did you make your bed this morning? Tell whether pure cotton sheets are better than polyester and why. Sometimes it takes looking at life through a microscope and other times, it takes looking at life through a telescope. :)

On Mylot I just write whatever comes up during the day or I react to something I've read that spawned something else.

Hi maezee, Starting a topic here in mylot is like a roller coaster for me. Sometimes, ideas just come to my mind and sometimes I really have to think hard for me to come up on what topic to write. I already posted many discussion here and they are all about my experiences. I think that is the best way you can get a topic. If you have enough experience on what you are going to write, it will be easy for you to type those words on the keyboard and make a good output from that. Sometimes, I get my ideas from reading different reading materials available in our home. Sometimes, I get my ideas on what I had watched on tv or had listened on the radio. I am also writing on Bukisa and Triond. I am also writing my experiences there with teaching, with my relationship with my colleagues and with my students. I did also write lots of articles in giving tips for my students so they can enjoy more their study.I am always motivated when someone comment on my articles and that makes me to think more of what articles to write.

Although I do write about everything, I think that the overwhelming majority of articles on Associated Content are about the topics I love: travel, art, and books. I do a lot of book reviews, articles on travel, and articles on famous artists or art movements (not big page earners, by the way). But I have done poems, articles about money, holiday articles, etc. I finally became a featured writer over on AC for travel, and that suits me well. I never get tired of writing about places I have been. I think if you write about what you are interested in, what you would enjoy reading, then it's a win-win. You enjoy writing, and you convey your enthusiasm for the topic. Good luck with your writing!
