I like to have the smaller fish in my aquarium. A few weeks ago I bought some new tropical fish and there are various kinds of tropical fish in the aquarium now. It is quite beautiful. It is easy to handle smaller fish. You don't have to change the water often. And since they have small size, I can raise more fish.

I have had both small fish and large fish, but I have decided that it is not really something I want to do. I had such big goldfish that they would try to leap out of the tank. I had fun when the cat thought he could touch the fish through the glass.

i am not too much into pets but we have aquarium in the house. we have tiny fishes there and yes, they are much more easier to handle. and actually, my step son is the one who is in-charge of the maintenance of the aquarium. he usually cleans the aquarium twice a month.

I like to have big attractive looking fish in my aquarium, I do not like ones that are too big though, just big enough to attract attention and bring wows.

I have several aquariums and some have large fish and others have small fish.. The big thing to remember is to make sure to not overcrowd, not to overfeed and to do regular partial water changes. When setting up a tank, it takes some time for good bacteria to start growing (the ones that break down the ammonia to nitrite and finally to nitrate) so if you put too many fish in your tank too soon they will get ammonia poisoning and many may die. If you start with just a few and let the bacteria grow then in about a week or two you can add more fish and let the bacteria grow again. As far as how many fish to put into a tank I use the rule of thumb t take the full grown length of a fish and multiply it times the height of the fish (minus any fins) and that will give you the size of the tank that that fish needs. There are exceptions but not many that can live in less than that amount. Also on feeding, if the fish do not eat it then bacteria (both good and bad bacteria) will eat it and they use oxygen so you might not have enough oxygen for the fish if you overfeed. The rule of thumb is that the size of the eye is about the size of the stomach and if yo go a day or two a week without feeding, it will not hurt the fish, after all no one goes around in the wild and feeds the fish every day. I prefer to change between 15% and 25% of the water in each tank each week.If you go longer and do larger changes the water may be too different for the fish and lower their resistance to diseases.

Hello youless. Like you, I also prefer to keep smaller fish, but I usually buy some gold fish for my small aquarium. There is one thing that I have discoverd about raising gold fish. That is, it is very difficult to raise them for a long time, especially in summer when the weather is very hot, but easier in winter due to the cold weather. The last time when I raised some tiny fish was two months ago. After some time, they were gone, leaving me feel a little bit upset. Later I bought some bigger fish for my friend's daugther and she likes it. Right now only one is still alive out of the four when I bought her.
I feel very happy when I see some live creature swimming in the aquarium. In a few more days, our traditional spring festival is coming soon. Here I wish you and your family a very happy and prospective new year of the tiger.

Even the fancy goldfish should have 20 gallons of water for the first one and 10 gallons for each one after that. The common single tailed goldfish should be kept in ponds or very large tanks because they can grow to over 12 inches long. This is why they were not living long, they should be able to grow to over 10 years of age for fancy ones and up to 35 for common goldfish.

I haven't had an aquarium in years. We had all sorts of fish in ours. Most were smaller. I think I like smaller fish too. More room for them to roam in the tank.

I have a five feet inch aquarium so it is relatively big. I have bought 4 parrot fish such as the one I have attached in the message. Two are red and two are orange. They really bright up the aquarium. I have also bought some angels. I believe that the red parrots really get big in this aquarium. I would love to see them grow and grow.

I don't have an aquarium but it probably wouldn't matter to me. I think they're all pretty. I've always heard that watching fish is relaxing. There used to be an aquarium at my doctor's office but they haven't had it there in years. I don't know why they took it out unless it was because it was a lot of trouble. It was a large one, in other words. I remember children really enjoyed watching the fish. They had a sign above the tank saying not to touch it. However, there were a lot of really young children who couldn't read and weren't aware it said this and they would touch it, anyway. Kathy.
