Triple H and that stupid sledgehammer.

Am the the only one who groans when Triple H pulls out that sledgehammer? I mean it would be one thing if it would be put over as a real dangerous weapon but it's not. Triple H barely taps them with the thing. It bothers me above than anything else when Triple H pulls it out. Granted, he's toned down the use of it as of late but still, when he does, it just is awful. The only time it has been good was the first time that he used it. It was a hardcore match with Mankind and he used it on his knees to put him on the shelf for several months. It got over the sledgehammer as a threat, for a while anyway. Then he used it in every single match and people are fine the next night on RAW. That infernal hammer was part of one of the worst decisions in the last decade of WWE, this side of the handling of the Invasion. Goldberg was in the Elimination Chamber at Summerslam 2003, beating everyone up. Up until this point, Goldberg had been kind of lackluster as compared to his WWE run, but the fans were going crazy, wanting Goldberg to win the title. Boom, Goldberg beats Randy Orton. Boom, Goldberg beats Chris Jericho. Boom, Goldberg beats Shawn Michaels. Goldberg is going to win the title and...Triple H hits him with the sledgehammer and pins him. It killed Goldberg dead as far as his WWE run was concerned. This was worse than the stun gun that ended his winning streak in WCW in many ways. At least Nash hit his power afterwards. Say what you want about Goldberg but on that night the fans wanted to see Goldberg win the title and it didn't mean nearly as much when he won the title. Triple H and that sledgehammer was the cause of that. I think this is the reason why I don't want to ever see Triple H as heel again. Because I know that sledgehammer is going to be broken out in every single big time match he's in. Enjoying wrestling is about suspending disbelief but that sledgehammer destroys all believability.

I could think of a hundred ways on how to kill my opponent with that sledgehammer. With a body like triple h, one swing and I can decapitate your head. But no... he can't kill. He's just there to "wrestle".. Why not use a rolling pin instead?

Exactly. With a man of Triple H's strength, he could kill somebody with the most delicate of swings with that sledgehammer. And, even if he did use a rolling pin, it would seem far more realistic and believable than that idiotic sledgehammer.

Honestly, I do get annoyed when he pulls it out simply becuase I know for a fact that he is not about to do real damage with it..it's like when he pulls it out, business is about to be handled but then you remembered that all of this stuff is scripted and there is no actual harm..if it were real, he would have ben in jail a long time ago..

I am a huge Triple H fan but I do must agree the sledgehammer is a pointless prop. One time i thought it was used well though was Wrestle Mania 17 when he broke the the top the sledge off on Undertaker's head while Taker was attempting the Last Ride. While you have to disband your belief that it that wouldn't kill Taker, it still looked sweet.

HI! I don't watch the WWF any more, because it is one big fake and all the stuff there is a fake and stupid- not only the sledgehammers and the metal chair- everything is fake!!!

Ya eventhough in reality the sledgehammer is really a great weapon. He doesn't use it that way. When we see hhh hitting the opponent with the we will know that he is not hitting them, just imitating we can clearly see that. but it's great to watch him with the hammer, it is a visual treat

It's hard to believe that a human being can be hit by a sledgehammer by a stronger fellow like Triple H. You would at least walk away with a concussion if the show was real. They use a lot of weapons on that show that makes it pretty unbelievable.

I have always hated that freaking sledgehammer I can suspend my belief for many things, but this is just ridiculous. Firstly, even the slightest of thumps with a sledgehammer can cause devastating injury, let aloe when swung at full force. Secondly, it just looks terrible when HHH covers the end with his hand or hits an opponent with the handle

It is one of the worst weapons to use in wrestling. As there's no way to get an actual impact with it unlike a chair or a table. It just looks very obviously fake and they kind of just have him bump the head of the sledgehammer against the guy's chest or legs and that's it. It really isn't effective. If it was used it would really hurt someone. Chairs can be used and not damage someone, as can most weapons used in wrestling, the sledgehammer... not so much.

I remember that match with mankind. Triple H really gave him a good knock on the noggin. But since those days, wrestling has become more and more fixed and is just entertainment now a days. Goldberg was an awesome wrestler with brute strength and a great reputation. His rep was pretty good until the Game used a weapon. And it happened all under the owner's nose. WWE was great back when Undertaker, Jimmy snuka, Jake the Snake and a lot more real competitors actually fought like men. Sure it was a little staged back then too, but at least it looked more real and not synthetic.
