Do you think before you leap or leap before you think.

I am famous for doing the latter and regretting it especially expressing my opinions which at times hurt those around me which affect me inasmuch as I sometimes lose friends on account of this. Which category do you belong and if the latter how do you cope with it?

Well.. i used to leap before i think. Whenever i felt like doing something or when it feels like it's such a good idea and do it regardless of anything with no plans at all or purpose whatsoever other than just doing it then it ends up badly. Haha.
So nowadays i tend to think before i leap and i also don't disregard how i feel on the matter. I have learned this lesson well as it does make you hurt yourself and others if you let impulsiveness get the better of you.

you mean a year of thinking before leaping? haha, well of course we still might end up leaping before we think at some point but for me i make it a point to think things through first now that i am aware of the repercussions. =)

I can definitely see that you think before you leap. You have done that before leaping into this discussion. But one year is a long time. Don't you think?

You have company..
I used to be so very impulsive earlier that most people around me would get annoyed with me .My mother always cautioned me.I am much better now I think
...at least I have not had any major mishaps...I have conciously told myself to be calm and not to speak especially when I have been provoked and when I am angry...It has helped me to some extent- all the best

I hope this 'make over' has not cost you your happiness. Being what we are and facing the consequences is the ultimate of living happily.

Usually I think before leap. I cannot manage well when crisis comes. So prevention is better than cure for me. Suppose I have already done the damage, then I gather strength, try to be normal and analyse the situation fast and accordingly I will manage the circumstances. The words once occured and the act once done, cannot be taken back. So automatically necessity will show us some way to come out of the worst situation.

Be what you are Buchi. Walking on egg shells all the time is not something that art of living will teach you. Mistakes are pointers that highlight our other good points/behaviour.

Hi, All!
I'm far too inconsistent to have an answer for that. Sometimes I do one, and sometimes the other. Life's a never-ending adventure!

You are perfect Cobra. Walking on egg shells all the time is not called living.

Well you can say both in my case, sometimes am cautious that i avoid danger, and at time my decision leads to my own disaster, but as you can see its human nature to fall without looking into things that may lead to situation that we are not meant to be,only the wise people looks things in away to stay away from bad things that may change our life..anyway we try our best to look before leaping.i understand one thing taking hasty decision leads only into danger sometime out of luck we may escape but of course that again depends on human.

I am known for voiceing my opinion and not holding back. I also tend to hurt people but not on purpose. I really just don't think before I act. Smetimes I wish I could just be one of those quiet people, but I am me. People sometimes think I am mean but I am just truethfull. I need to learn how to hold my tounge in certain circumstances, it will get me much farther.

I wonder if it is worth going thru all the trouble trying to be prim and proper. Be what you are and face the consequences. What say?
