Five things I hate about moving

I have moved more than 20 times in my 29 years on the planet and I've come to realize that I generally hate moving 1 - When people say they have childhood friends, I have no idea what that means. 2 - A break-up with a new bf is always right around the corner. 3 - It's expensive! 4 - Half of my furniture is broken and half of my clothes are always missing. 5 - When do I get to sleep between the packing, cleaning, and working? Oddly enough, no matter how much I hate it, no matter how much I swear that I'll never do it again, every 6-8 months, I always seem to be moving yet again!

I totally agree with what you said in here. I really dont like moving. I only experienced moving just twice in my life. The first one was when I was still 6 years old that family needs to move somewhere and I didn't have so many friends in that area where we moved. I miss my old house and my friends and I only get to see them for once or twice in a year. The second one was that when I got married and have to move to my husband's hometown. Its even more difficult then because I have to make new friends and look for a new job. I hope just this would be the last time that we or I will move.

One big thing that is taged with moving is meeting new people. If you think about it you can change who you are completely each time you relocate, and each group can have differeent perspectives about who you are. I hope someday I get to go back home with my original down hommies and they can listen to everyone I refer to as there equal in the many neighborhoods that I have lived in since traveling with my dad whose an evangelist.

I am in my 7th house and already looking to move again. We moved into this one in January 2009. This doesn't include the countless apts I lived in before I started to buy. Now I have to move again, This house is too expensive. I need to find something cheaper in the same area, or not too far away. Ugh. It tires me to even start to think of it.

When I was a child my parents moved pretty often, and I didn't like it. I didn't want to leave my friends or the area where we lived and I was usually sad when we had to move. Each time we moved my father thought that he had found the perfect place, and that we very never going to move again, but after while he found a new "perfect" place and we moved again. When I was a child, I promised myself that I wasn't going to move from place to place when I became an adult, I wanted to find a place that I liked and stay there forever, but things didn't go that way. I continued moving a lot when I became an adult, and I have moved even more than my parents did

I don't like moving either, but I certainly haven't moved as much as you, Miravu. The major reason is the packing and unpacking; it's just a pain. But it does give you a chance to see all the "stuff" you've accumulated...and probably don't need, which in turn gives you a chance to making some money having a garage sale.

I moved 10 times in my life! I agree with u about all the points! But I always moved with happiness because people, after a while, bore me! So..I think I'll move again and again, maybe..very soon! :D

me, my husband and our 6 months old son were finally moving to our own house this week end,its been 2 years since we get married and we are currently living with my in-laws. That is the reason why i was really excited to moved to our new house, i really wanna move-out because i want to make my own decision,do my own stuffs, cook everything that i want to eat, unlike living with my in laws though they were very supportive and loving ,still i cant do things as much as i want.

wow! my brother in law and sister in law (hubbys little brother and his wife) used to move about every 5 years but now they have kids they have actually stayed in their house longer. moving is such a pain. you are right because lots of stuff become broken or lost (last time bro in law movied, his tv got busted!) the only good thing about moving is the fact that you can declutter and get rid of a lot of stuff you didnt even know you had!! :-)

I agree with you. We've move several times already. First reason why I hate moving is the feeling of sadness leavin' your friends behind.. Second: I need to adapt with the new environment. Third: I need to again fix my things.. third: I would always end up forgetting where did I put some of my stuff. Fourth: I need to find new friends.. and that is not an easy task. Lastly: I need to familiarize the place to avoid being late for school.

since i don't know the reasons why you are moving, i understand what moving is all about. it is hard work, but it is necessary at times. for example, a new job, college, bad neighborhood, renting,. yes, it is harder to leave the longer you are at a place. take your time and i hope you will find the right place for you. best to you.

I really do not like the act of moving itself because it is always a hassle and stuff always seems to mysteriously get broken or go missing, but it's always nice to acquaint yourself with a new area instead of wallowing away in the same old, stale environment. Plus, sometimes it's good to get away from the old faces and meet new people

Im so sorry about your broken furniture and missing clothes. Ive moved 5 times in my lifetime. I now have it down to a science. I keep a journal with all the numbers I need for my change of address, all government agencies, all utilities and the best moving company I have found so far. I know where to get good boxes, good tape and great markers so I can write on each box whats inside. I dont let the moving company carry my clothes or personal belongings, I move those myself. I make sure that anything that can be broken (dishes, computers, etc) is labeled as FRAGILE in BIG BOLD LETTERS and stash together. Each box is also labelled with the room it has to go in. My last move went well. Nothing was broken or lost. So dont despair, eventually you'll know how to do it right.

thats a lot of moving around? Are you military or something? If not why is it that you have had to move so much? Do you have young children. I try not to move around unless it means im moving to bigger and better things. I want to make sure I have stability for my two children so unless its moving because of the military or career wise I try not to move and if I do move its usually still in the area where I do not have to change my kids schools and they can resume all normal activities as before.

Wow. That's a whole lot of moving around. In my lifetime I have moved about 6 times. My last move was the worse, but it was well worth it. My girlfriend and I lived together for about 4 years and on our last move we had to do it all by ourselves. just us two. When we asked anybody, they all gave some kind of excuse. We plan to move next year to a bigger place and I promise that we won't be doing it alone this time.
