Hello, i am an English teacher. 2 weeks ago i took TOEFL test in an institution which is a representative on language institution from an university in the States, and surprisingly..i was accepted. My score was, unfortunately, not 550 yet, but still above 500. tomorrow, i am doing a micro teaching. As their clients are mostly university, i have to prepare lesson plan for TOEFL. the problem is, i have never taught TOEFL before as i don`t feel confident to teach English for test-prep. Let`s say, i should teach grammar, what should i do and how to start?the lesson is about adjective clause, if i am not mistaken. Any ideas please?Thank you

Hello jasmeena. You are great to have passed the TOEFL. There are also many people in our country who take part in this test for further study abroad. I have never thought of taking such an exam. From your discussion, I have got to know that you could also be engaged in TOFEL teaching once you pass. It is so true that there are a lot of such institutions as to train and organize those who wish to take such an exam. But I am wondering if you could get a certificate if you pass it. It is so good that it can help you with your teaching work. Speaking of the topic of teaching TOFEL, I have little experience about it, but so far as adjective clause is concerned, I think that you could begin with the use of adjectives to make it easier and then come to why we should use an adjective clause by explaining in detail the antecedents. Then further deepen the knowledge about it... Anyway, I wish you to enjoy your teaching. Have a good day.

Well, it really depends on the grammar point to teach but the big idea is to start by teaching as a group and practicing as a group. After you are confident they understand and can use the new point have them break up and play a game or do an activity which is student centered(i.e - lets you observe more than lead). This way they can get more practice and you can monitor to make sure the new point is being properly used and correct individuals as needed.

I think first you should buy some book about TOEFL, like Barron, and I think vocabulary is kind important in TOEFL. And grammar just basic english grammar, you shloud teach about high school lever, and long sentence, how to use adj. before adv. or something like that! Hope you will have fun in teaching Toefl
