Have you sent any Valentine's Day cards? If not, have you received any?

I have always thought of Valentine's Day not a day just for romantic couples, but for everyone I love. Since I was a little kid I would always give my friends and family valentines. This year I bought cards for an aunt I'm especially close to, my grandparents (only living set, and my Papaw is back in the hospital, instead of the nursing home), my parents, my sister & brother-in-law (I actually found a card that was made specifically for that, and was surprised). I also got a valentine card for a friend who is going through a particularly hard time, and I'm sure could use a reminder that they are loved. I'm sure I'll send some e-cards for Valentine's Day, but those are the ones where I bought actual cards and mailed them.

I don’t send out Valentine cards to anyone because I believe it is a celebration just for couples. My husband and I don’t give cards to each other because we rather acknowledge our wedding anniversary which was February 10. We usually treat each other to some chocolate on Valentine’s Day and that’s about it. I don’t acknowledge the day with anyone else, I don’t know...It doesn’t seem appropriate…Hope you have a great day whatever you do!

Well, humbugs like to point out the whole Valentine's Day massacre. But I think some people get the wrong idea of what I mean. Like the card I sent to my friend. It had a picture of a dog on the front. You open the card and it says I'm a lucky dog to have a friend like you. Happy Valentine's Day. That's the entire card. My mom's card says Mom, thanks for all the happiness you've brought just by doing what comes naturally to you - loving with all your heart. Happy Valentine's Day. That seems sweet to me, not inappropriate.

You are quite right Pam the cards you are sending out do sound very sweet and I'm sure your friend and your mum will be so happy to receive them, I know I would.I guess, because I have never done anything like that, I tend to associate Valentine cards with romance and that side of it is a bit commercial now but like you said it doesn't just have to be about couples and you are very thoughtful to think of your fiend and your mum. Sorry hope I didn't offend!!

I have to agree with you that Valentine's shouldn't be just for spouses or lovers but to share one's love for a friend and family members (including pets...LOL). I really can't spend much money on physical cards to mail so I opt to send e-cards to all my friends

I remember I received Valentines Card from my classmate when I was in highschool and college. I received a card from a suitor when I was in my sophomore in highschool. I also do a card for my parents every valentines day. Receiving this kind makes you feel special, I love the feeling of having a card during that day. It meant a lot for me because I became part of the celebration. While now, there is no one that will give me that kind of card.

None of the above yet. I did not start sending and I have not receive any also. I think I have to do that this week. I preferred to send cards through electronics, I mean online because it is easy and fast. No need of stamps. Though hard copy for cards is always treasured because you can preserve it but, the most important thing now is to let our loved one feel that they are important to us and that we love them.

Yes, I sent a Valentine's day card to my husband. He lives in a different country as a part of his job. I live in India and people rarely celebrate Valentine's day here. It was difficult for me to find a V'day card in the city where I live. Most of the stationary shops with cards only had birthday cards and Christmas cards. I was forced to go to a shop only for cards to get a Valentine's day card.

When i was a little kid, I thought of valentines day as a day for all of us, yes it is (yes I buy cards for my parents). Suddenly, I was just struck by the story of our young pastor, during valentines He buy flower and kneel down in his room and offer it to GOD. That day, it changed my priorities during valentines, I gave first to Him before sending/giving something to my loved ones.

I did not and will not. I think that Valentines Day is very intimate and personal. I may wish that someone has a good Valentines day, but....most of my friends are single and may find my cards not appropriate. HUGS

The card I sent my friend had a picture of a dog on it. It opens up and inside it says, I'm a lucky dog to have a friend like you. Corny, but cute. I don't think it could possibly be seen as inappropriate. I think the dog is a dalmation. It's collar has glitter on it. My friend is a big dog lover.

That's very nice of you to get people Valentine's Day cards. I have to say over the years I have gotten very bad about not getting any kind of cards. This the reason that I usually don't receive many myself. I rather get a gift and give someone that they can use. For my daughters, I generally get them things for a care package, something they can use or need. They tend to like that just as well as anything else.

I don't normally send out Valentine's cards. My son did not even get to pass out Valentine's at school this year. His teacher decided they did not deserve a Valentine's party. I will probably get a card for each of my kids when I run out later today. My daughter really likes the ones that play music, but I am not sure if I want to spend $5 on a card for a 3 year old.

Yes, and three year olds attention spans are almost zilch aren't they? It would be a cool card for five minutes, and then the three dollar card would be tossed aside for the next thing. And these days, three dollars is a lot!

Hey Amber! And a Happy Valentine's Day to you too! I have never been big on the holiday personally myself! I used to send out cards to my Mom, but I think we finally stopped a few years ago. At least I hope so because I didn't buy her one! And since I don't know what's really going on with the boyfriend who knows what's going to happen on this Valentine's Day!I don't know if he is placating me by being nice until he is ready to leave or if he is really trying to work things out! But, I am not trusting him that's for sure!

Hi, I never sent cards on Valentine's day, and I never received any, I think just because I never sent, so I never received. And when I was in school, I would sent card to my friends on new year day, and I will also received their cards, receive cards was really a happy thing, it means someone still care about you, and want to wish you.

I have a card for hubby. I have one for a family friend, and one for my daughter and family. They have some really cute, inexpensive cards that are cheerful and just right.

I haven't thought to much about Valentine's Day this year. I have bought candy or a little toy for my niece and nephew. I might send my parents a card. Maybe my grandmother.
