And only 2 weeks left to move
Well I knew it was all going to well, Gissi has stopped unpacking what I pack but then I have left the 10 Chewies alone, packing is going ok, cleaning is going ok, even though it is tiring me out a lot lol, My Flat is starting to look empty and I hate it
, Ghost playing lovely Tricks on me, so there you go so far so good, but now the Hurdle
I was going to hire a Van for movng my Furniture which could fit in one Van, my Son lives 3 hours away from me and we where going to hire a Van there for 2 Days, well it is costing £250 ($420) can't afford that as I am paying out £1140 to move into my new Place (around $2000) also paying Gissi's Vet Bill of
So tried hiring one down this end by the time I have paid for my Son's Train Fare there and back it will be just as much well nearly anyway, tried to hire a Van with a Driver, no go can not afford it either, so asking around at the moment if anyone knows anyone with a Van, no luck so far and I really do not know that many People here, so I am in a muddle I can see me walking down the M11 with a Settee Bed, Washing machine, Fridge Freezer and a couple of other things on my back
I know I shouldn't but I am stressing myself out over this now, as I am tired and feeling ill to, it is making it worse, the slightest thing and I am in tears
I guess somehow I will overcome the Hurdle but it is such stress to try and get it sorted lol
Ok bright Ideas for me please and have you come across Hurdles when you have moved ( I know I always have lol.........Helppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

Hi sweetie, I have moved in total 6 times within the space of 12 years and it doesn't get any easier! Out of five times I have only had the car to transport my stuff once, but however I do not have any big things to move apart from my computer and dressing table which I managed to put into the car in bits. Once when I was moving out from my ex's I had to carry my computer on the train! That was no picnic, my last computer was a monitor and a tower, how I didn't give myself a hernia I don't know especially walking over the footbridge! I guess it's easier when you don't have furniture and after moving so many times I have learnt to be minimalistic and I have periods of throwing out stuff I don't need, however I am not so strict when it comes to clothes, anything else I can part with, clothes I can't! I still have clothes which are 2 sizes too big for me just in case LOL! I hope you get things sorted, sending you a big wolfie hug, and don't stress, easier to say I know but moving is one of the most stressful things we have to go through in life xxx

Hi Sweetie this will be my 19th move, as the Ex Husband used to be in the Army I used to move a lot and I always had to do most by myself and the 2 Children who where little about me as well
The Army used to move your Furniture and Boxes for you so it was no hassle on that side, but packing Toys and finding them all unpacked again was no dance lol but I never got stressed out much then, but I am frustrated because I just can't do what I want to do and now the worry over a Van (sigh) Big Hugsssssssssssxxxxxx

I'll pray you'll find a helping hand...that you get a van you need for you to be relax and at ease. I remember the last time we moved my brother hired a passenger jeepney and went back and forth just to have all things done. I wish you and Gissi all the comfort and happiness in your new home...

oh gabs I am sure not of much help .when we were evicted we had to put our stuff in storage, I guess both of us were horribly stressed out as my son ordered too small a moving van , we got the two drivers out of the internet, CraigsList, they sure did not know a thing really about moving, and the storage space he rented was too small, so when the two so-called movers got the storage space full, they did not take advantage of planning, they just simple walked off leaving us with half our stuff not moved. oh well it was all a disaster and best forgot now. water under the bridge. but we did live through it, sort of anyway.
So you need a truck and driver, you could try Craigs LIst on the net but make darn sure that the drivers know what the heck they are doing. get someone who has bona fide experience moving people's households. I hope I did not upset you with my past woes .it just seemed so sad to lose so much, when we had already been knocked to the floor. but in your case you just need a capable mover who will not charge you a fortune.I know how stressful moving can be Gabs. I wonder if there are any mylotters who might live in your area who would be willing to drive a truck for you and move your stuff? Hey fellow mylotters who live in England any of you have a big van or truck and could lend gabs a hand in getting her stuff moved? well it was a thought. good luck and God bless.

calm down, you are getting stressed out. Things will all work out, you know that.
You are going to move because that is what has to happen, if you make yourself sick it will only get worse. Moving has never gone smoothly for me, but I made it and you will also. Think positive.

AW you are ok, take some deep breaths and think of how wonderful it will be to get moved. the differences in life style should make you and Gissi soooooooooo happy !
Doesn't matter what you do in life there are stressors in everything we do.
Be happy you are able to do the things you are doing now to make life better for you.
There is always a positive side and you are doing quite well it seems to me.
Now, repeat after quita, I am happy, I am not stressed , I am going to get thru this and I will be happier than I've been in my whole entire life !!
Hang in there, one step at a time, go out and walk the dog and forget the messes and you'll be fine.
This time next year you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.
hugs,
quita

Hi Gabs, all moves are hard on us. As you know I just moved from Montana back to Oklahoma in Oct. of last year. That was a move of over 1600 miles and talk about rough! two dogs, three cats and a trailer full to the brim.
I am just now settling in somewhat ! Now hubby and I are talking about moving to a piece of land I own about 50 miles from here.
We are talking about that being a smart move as we would sell this place and the place in MT too and being prepared for our bad economice status that is bound to gegt worse.
I am proud you are taking a good attitude toward this move and you will laugh at it too.
Take care my freind,

I have moved 19 times since my dad threw me out when I was 16. It gets harder. And it also gets more expensive. I always try to have an emergency fund in the bank for such issues. I thought you had your son lined up...surely he can help you out by getting a van for you and driving it with a mate to help him....of course, at no cost to you. Perhaps your daughter could chip in some money too?
Failing your family helping...I'm sure your wonderful man would be only too happy to lend a hand. I wish you the best...it is so close now, it will all be behind you soon and the trials just a memory. Gissi will probably be healthier too in the new place.

Do you know anyone with a pick-up truck and a trailer? Is there a rental company nearby? Here in America, we have U-Haul. Talk to some of the people you see when you go to town with Gissi. See if they know of anyone that would be willing to lend a hand for a day.

I hate moving. First time we moved we had friends and family and anybody who had a truck or a van helped out. After that, we always hired vans. They can be awfully expensive though. Most expensive was moving up here to Sacramento from Los Angeles.
I don't know, do they have smaller trucks you can hire there that you can drive yourself (or your kids can drive)?

It would cost just as much if I got a smaller Van Dawn as my Son would have to do a few trips and the Settee might not fit in, I looked at that to so nope not an option lol but thanks
You could always send your Family with their Vans
what do you think

Moving is stressful as you know and it sounds as though you are in a bit of a state and I can appreciate it how it feels because I’ve moved on numerous occasions and I have also been on a budget like you are. I have always hired a moving truck and driver every time I have shifted house. I rang around many companies and eventually found a relatively cheap one; the guys were a little rough around the edges but they got the job done. They were okay and I used them a few times. It is a matter of ringing around and you can save heaps. The only other cheap alternative is to find a friend with a van or truck. I hope it works for you gabs. If we weren’t so far away I would come and help you!

Get in touch with your council and see what they suggest. They may even know of someone who could help you for a nominal fee which I could help you with. Let me know.........

Hey Gaby,
We are moving in 2 weeks also, Feb. 26th to be exact. We are in the end of our Foreclosure and it's time to go. But I was thinking, maybe try calling local churches to see if there is any kind of help there. Maybe a request can be put in their bulletin for someone who can load and drive the van. That sounds a little safer than a stranger from Craigs list. I've moved a number of times and it's such hard work. Before I met my hubby, the last two times I had to do it by myself.
So are you moving in with your Son? If I think of someting else I'll let you know. Good luck to you and Gissi. My little Dexter is quite confused also.
Hugsss
Leenie
