Hi everyone. As most of you know I just got my permit awhile back, well I was hunting for driving schools to teach me how to drive and it seems the only one I can find will cost me and my husband $55.00 an hour. Needless to say you'll be seeing me around her on mylot more often. We're also going to be getting a car this weekend if we can find one in our price range and that we like. I wanted to know how much driving schools are in your area? When I say driving schools I don't driver's ed at a highschool, I mean an outside business that teaches a person how to drive.

Just remeber ya only use your right foot for both the breaks and gas now if ya have a stick shift thats what your left foot is for the clutch dont use left foot with and automatic!!!! That is some thing that drives me crazy watching my son in law use his left foot in a car with automatic in it and I cant seem to tell him any different. Hope it all works out good luck!

I know I've got to use my right foot, it's just finding somewhere to put my left one. Hubby puts his near the emergency break, or where the clutch would be...

I know what you mean about it being cheaper. I'll probably only do about a couple of hours worth of training with the instructor and then go back with the family. Maybe after a few sessions I'll feel confident with a break pedal and gas.

I have no idea. I think the only one still in operation post K only takes kids. Someone I know called and that's what she said she was told.

The one I called takes everybody or that's the way he made it seem. I know some are different.

I have heard that going through training with a driving school will help your insurance rates.

That's Euro right? Well then 75 euros is about 102 usd, so that is cheaper! I'm not sure why it would be different in price unless you count he factoring in of gasoline?

I have no clue how much it cost here in Chicago. All I know that you can negotiate the cost per week instead per hour. I would negotiate the fee. $55/hr seems to be a lot.

I'm not sure, I may just wait and see. I'll probably get a few hours down, and then if I feel confident enough someone in my family can teach me. The only thing was is getting used to the gas and break, if I go with a school they have a gas pedal and break pedal on their side to correct me if need be.

My oldest child is not quite old enough to start learning to drive yet, although that will be coming up in the next couple of years. My niece has gone to driving school and my sister in law said it cost them about $500, that was the total price though, I don't know how that breaks down hourly or how many hours she gets for that kind of money. I will find out in a couple of years though. I am not looking forward to my kids driving, but I guess they need to grow up.

Wow, $500.00! That is a lot of money. I'll just take a few lessons so I would say maybe at the most spending $200.00. I never learned as a teenager and now I am trying to. If I can get some of the basics down, then I can drive with my MIL first and then hubby. but $500.00! That is a lot!

Sorry, no idea too. I've also been driving since '98. Had a girlfriend who bought a car. She would often let me drive her car, even though she knew I was just learning. It was the best 'driving school' for me! It was free, and sometimes dinner was even free after driving around.

I was actually going to go this route a few years ago when I wanted to learn how to drive. I didn't have my license or permit though so didn't. I called the guy yesterday and he told me that he could teach me whether I had my permit or not. Wish I knew that then! Oh well. I'm atleast going to do a few hours with this guy.

Hi, SomeCowgirl. With the driving school company that I know about, it is $35.00 to $40.00 per hour to drive. I remember him telling me that I would be charged $70.00. It is somewhere around $40.00 per hour.

Wow, what was the extra fees, gas? I didn't ask about that, and he didn't say. Well, I'll call back anyway, like I said the other driving schools were fax or disconnected. This guy seems real nice, so I'll call him back once hubby and I get our car I guess.

I remember when we were trying to find a driving school around here, and we found the one for 55 dollars and hour even though that included thirty minutes of him driving here which I still think is not right, and I am sure there are some places where driving schools could be a whole lot more expensive, and we were supposed to get a car but things got complicated you lost your job,and we could no longer afford to have car payments, but hopefully one day in the future we can go look for a car, because I still want us to get a car of our own,I love you with all of my heart and soul.

Hey baby, You know I also want us to get a car of our own. Everything did get kind of complicated but I guess in a way it wasn't so much complicated as our plans went out the window because of me losing my job. I know it's a good thing we didn't end up going to look for a car anyway and now we can wait a little while before we look for one. I know I need to try to get a job, that is the biggest thing, me getting a job, if I have another job then we can go back to looking for a car and we can more afford some of the other things that have come up like bills etc. Especially the health insurance for me and you WOOO that is A LOT A LOT of money. I love you!

I have noticed plans always seem to change and I guess that is life, and yeah we can wait before we get one,and yeah that is true even though depending on where you worked you could maybe get insurance through them after six months or a year so that would make it a little cheaper, since that is a lot of money, and I love you with all of my heart and soul.
