I do like it! It reminds of the bumper sticker on my friend’s car; ‘Divorce is better than murder’. They are funny quotes but sad at the same time. The divorce rate is very high and the idea that one would come to hate the one person one considered spending a lifetime with is very sad indeed but all too common and that’s why we joke about it, may as well...It’s better than killing someone!

I would have to agree about that. I mean that's just my opinion since Im not in that stage in my life yet. With that quip, I would say that marriage can be tough, to a point that couples can be at each others' throats (thus the murder part) but love is still strong enough that they dont even consider the thought of ending their official relationship through a divorce. I guess marriage is difficult, but at the end of the day, when couples truly love each other, no matter how hard challenges can be, they would still be together. The comment is something funny or something to smile about because it's just a fact of life. Also, a lot of people can relate to it that when they hear the comment, they cant help but think of their own situation. Well, that's just what I think anyways.

And who was this? Anyhow, it is very nice and I feel it speaks better for the relationship between the couple if it were 'murder' instead of a 'divorce'.Obviously saying 'murder' in this tone only shows some intense frustration for the minute[if it were thought out then it would have taken place and the issue would have been a very serious one];on the other hand 'divorce' is something relatively easier and if a couple consider divorce then it means that all is not really well on some serious issues and therefore more attainable.

Hi kala, it also comes down to many monetary considerations....ne only speaks what one feels at thae moment and what is in the sub concious. One may not consider doing it but the thought is there.Again , one can say that the thought took place beause of the circumstances..All the best kala, have a nice day

I guess you are saying that either partner can say this isn't it Kiran?

Love it. I also like the comment about the lady being a house keeper - when she gets divorced she keeps the house

Didn't Robin Williams say that about the time of his divorce? I remember he said divorce is the painful process of ripping out your testicals through your wallet.

I have heard that before. I can understand it but of course never actually do it! I have reached the time in my life where I have ceased to be a good example. I shall be a dire warning instead!

I like it for its honesty!.Not many people have the guts to voice their inner most thoughts. Not that she realy meant to do it, but she has considered it and had given it a thought at some time or the other. But our thoughts are guided largely by the circumstances in our life.To say that a person never thinks of the so called bad thoughts is completely false.I am sure everybody gets some such toughts depending again on circumstances and how life has treated you...psychologists even say it is good to give vent to your frustrations and stress by such imaginations instead of keeping it within yourself and becoming negative in not only thoughts but also in actions...have a nice day

Kiran ! I feel the word 'murder' cannot be serious and no partner would consider 'murder' seriously. It can at max be some 'hitting' or frustration like 'banging against a brick wall'[when the circumstances are bad.Otherwise if they are really terrible then divorce would definitely be opted for.

Yes of coures kala, murder is a planned activity.A person killing in self defense is quite a different matter though! I am sure she made that statement in jest because divorce is any day a better option....having said that statistics say that most murders are committed for monetary gains within the marriage -food for thought

Yes balasri I agree that life is too short to harbour negative thoughts within ourselves and become bitter.I feel that one should always try to make things pleasant as far as possible even when there are some minor problems..

Love and hate is a common feeling between a man and a woman. Before getting married our marriage lecturer told us never to sleep with unsettled matters. But to try and solve them out before sleeping. She said that the bed manages to sort out a lot of questions. If all the women understood her line of thought every married men would be happy :)

I do like quips but why are they so hard to remember sometimes - lol. I like the saying: behind every successful man is an organized woman.

I can so relate to that sentiment! Honestly, some days life would be so much calmer if a certain someone were to disappear.
