When someone knocks... do you peep out the peephole before you open the door? I never used to but have been doing it now. xoxoxoxoxo

My front door has a big window, so I do look out before opening it up. I wish I had a solid door with just a peephole, that way people wouldn't know that I was looking at them. Its alway better to be safe then sorry.

Hi Hon I had my son install a new door last year. I decided where we wanted the peephole. I wanted it low enough that the grandkids can check when they visit. I bought the door on sale at Lowes for $100 oxoxoxxo

Hi, raydene. If I am tall enough, I will peep through the peep hole. But unfortunately, I am not. The peep hole on my front room door is not tall enough for me to reach and look out of. I would have to stand on something to see this hole. The hole is about 5'5. I am 5'3. So, what I will just do is loudly ask who it is before opening up my front room door. I will make sure that I can make out who the person say he/she is. And if I can't hear them, I will not open my door. Also, if I don't recognize their names or voices, I will be very cautious about just opening my door. I get very tense when someone comes to my apartment, especially when I am not expecting them. We don't hardly get any visitors here at all. So, when someone just all of a suddenly just drops by, I feel nervous.

Unfortunately, I don't have a peep hole in my outside doors, they have glass panels instead of a solid core like most entry doors now-a-days. So, what I do instead is give a look out the window before I ever get close enough to the door so they can see me. Have to laugh, I have a huge old dog in this farmhouse, and she goes to this one window closest to the door and barks up a storm. People are usually so busy looking at the dog in the window to ever notice I've looked out the other window around the other corner. I think in this day and age one has to be especially careful before opening the door. At the farm here, I have lots of strangers in hunting gear wanting a pass to go into the woods to hunt. If I don't personally know them, I'll just let them assume I'm not home and they'll leave. It's one thing to open the door to a hunter (with a rifle) that I do know and let hunt, and whole 'nother thing to blindly open to somebody I don't know.

Hi Doll I live in the Adirondack Mts where there is often a hunting season on something and know just what you mean. I don't want anyone I don't know on my property and I don't allow shooting of any kind.. A friend lost a foal..never found out who shot it... xoxoxoxoxo

My friends and family come to the back door. If someone comes to the front door it is likely to be a delivery person, but yes, I look to see who is there before or if I open it. In warm weather I often have the backdoor propped open for the cats to come in and out. I am careful, but not as careful as I should be, I never lock the door on back when hubby is at work. He does not have a key. In fact, I do not have a key, either. Maybe I will go get new locks and put them in.

I always try to spot who is at the door before I open it. Usually it's the postman and I can recognize him through the frosted glass in the door. But if it is someone who I don't recognize I tend to ignore it and then watch from an upstairs window to see where they go, 9 out of 10 times it is someone going door to door selling stuff.

I always have done at Night time, during the Day I don't but at Night I do specially because no one really comes to see me on a Night time so I sometimes don't even go to the Door to open it because if it is a Friend or someone who knows me they will ring my Mobile as they know I do not open the Door at Night xxx

I live in an apartment, so usually the first thing I hear is someone buzzing my apartment from the outside. If I don't want to see people, then I just ignore the buzzer. If I want to know who it is, I answer the buzz. If it's someone looking for someone else and just buzzing apartments, I do not let them in. If someone knocks on my door then it's either the landlady, someone in the building, or else someone who got past the locked door at the front. I always check the peephole.

We don't have peephole at our door. What we do is look and check who is that on our window. Of course before I open the door I ask the person in the window who are they if they look stranger to me. When no one in the family knows them I can't let them enter the house. And our house is too small, plus I have dogs. I first have to do precautionary measures before anything else hahahaha. It is better if I have a peephole, i see that on American Films.

Hi Raydene, Now and them I look through the peephole, and mostly now keep my frot door locked, but normally when someone knocks I know who it is..so in that sense feel safer if I don't know them one of my dogs checks them out first! Hugs LoLo

Some of my houses have had doors without peep holes. I do like to know who is at my door before i open it even though i think if someone nasty was on the other side they would force their way inside anyway. I like to look out the window, check the peephole or call out before i open the door to whoever knocks.

I have always looked out of my peephole before opening the door. My biggest issue is often looking out of the peephole and still opening the door whether I recognize the person is or not. Once a female knocked on my door at 730 pm I did not recognize her but still opened. Luckily for me it was a Verizon representativetrying to sell cable service from Verizon. The second time it happened a guy was at my door at about 4pm luckily again it was a Verizon guy to install the equipment. Since then I have not and will not do it again. My boyfriend got totally upset with me but I feel like if no ones ever here with me then how do I get things done within my home when it's not to be done on a scheduled date? It scary, no more opening doors for unknown people for me, because it can be very dangerous!!

I always look at the peephole first before I open the door. I'm just scared that what if that's someone that I don't know, and what if it's a thief or a murderer or something. Hahahha. I take extra caution specially if I am not really expecting anybody so after I peek at the peephole and I don't know them, I open the door but only a little.

I don't have a peep hole in my door. I have a window, so can't help but seeing who it is at the door.
