Many men many minds. Everything in this universe is happening only that there is opposition. I mean opposition in opinion and ideas and principle. When Darwin said that the origin of human being is evolution many came up with arms and tried to contradict his findings. Where Mahatma Gandhi preached non violence others are all violent to solve out any issue that should go in favour of them. Similarly what you feel ok might not be so for many others. The force of opposition is ever on and I feel this is what makes our life worth living. Do you feel upset when there emerges opposition to your ideas and action?

We cannot always be a 'yesmen'. What a boring life it will be if we agree to everything in life. The opposing ends of magnet attract and it applies to human beings too. A pretty lady usually fall in love with someone that is in total contrst to her physical looks. An ugly guy with a bald head and a tadpole belly. But she finds happiness in him. And a good government should have a strong opposition to rule a country. I am not at all upset if someone oppose my ideas as it will only make me think deeper. It is challenging to say the least.

Hi zands, Well said. If there be no opposition life would become quite boring. But interestingly people like this sort of life. Opposition is what you have said or preached contradicted. What we need to do as I feel is that to see the logic of the opposition. If that is all venom puking having no legit points it is better to overlook but if there is point in what the other fellow has said it should be taken in good stead and rectify the gaps or errors if there any in you. This is the only ladder to climb up. Or else we would be toads in a small hole.

I don't get upset when there is opposition to my ideas and actions. I get upset when I try to express myself and I am talked over, not listened to, and/or rudely or badly received. Then I get upset. I have no problem with the opposition, it is the way in which I am received when my opinions are put out there.

I certainly think so. I am a very emotional and passionate person so I get upset regardless.

Hi celti, That is natural. We all want that our legit points are heard and accepted. Contradiction to which we feel bad. But there are some moments when we are not sure of a particular opinion or ideas and if there is opposition to what we have so far believed to be true and now proved that it was something et upset else rather, we should not get upset as this was for our benefit.

Hey, Well we all need challenges in life. Without challenge life is not interesting and thats where opposition comes in. In any field you got to have competition, without it u r getting stagnated and you wont grow. Even animals and plants have to face so many opposition to survive and the best one lives . Remember Darwin said " Survival of the fittest". Cheers, Tutul

Hi, Yes u r right. It can happen but it differs from person to person. I give u my example, I was very active in sports and athletics in my school life. And there was a time when I wasnt getting enough competetion and it was like if there is some inter school tournament and Iam going to win it. SO u can call it over confidence or lack of competeteion made me really outdated. I wasnt improving and when i reached in the college i found myself quite obsolete. I tried my best to perform again to my potential but due to pressure of studies and other things i lost my career as an athlete. I still find that that was extreamly crucial. And if i had good opponents and guys whom i could compete with then it would have made a lots of difference to me. Cheers, Tutul

Hi tutul, You are surely right to say that we need opposition to advance ourselves but too much opposition might lead to depression too. This happens when a person thinks that he/she is correct in his/her action and execution of any task but others do not accept it that way and if this gets repeated time again the person might get a jolt and may fall victim of psychic disorder.

there are people who likes to be the 'right one' in everything that is being discussed .. so what they do is they always come up with what they believe is the 'best' answer some just do not want othersto be 'the best' and they will do everything to bring down another .. even if they know for fact that 'the other' ma be right, but they just dont want them to gan success .. and if this 'opposers' does not exist then we may not be able to enjoy the best fruit o life .. my opinion why this happens is bacically due to the environment we were raised if we are raised by family who has negative comments on everything happening around thm, the chld will also do that , similarly otherwise me and my husband do have lots of opposing oppinion in whatever matters, as i view everything y placimg myself in others shoes, but my husband views everything from his own place .... (and yes my family has my attitute and his family has his attitute) for his family, when an accident happens, it is always the others fault and they will go to all levels to mae it that, while for my family first uesion will be if we followed the rules and if we did not then we have to admit to that mistakes .. this is only two families, what about the many minds you refer too .. there are so many other types .. by analyzing this trends .. i can accept why someone opposes to another ., i dont easily get upset over this cheers

Hi sanjana. You are right to a larger extent. But this is not that most of ours' approach is to show the world that we know all and you are inferior regardless the authenticity of what they know. Here emerges opposition and as you have put it better environment provides better opinions and teaches us to be flexible.

I think that the best lessons are learnt when there is controversy and opposition. Often we meet people who are totally opposite to us and don’t they teach us the most valuable things? I think that challenges add spice to life and without them there would be no growth and I think that to me that is what living is all about. I don’t mind at all if someone opposes my point of view in fact I see it as the chance for an interesting debate, it depends on how it’s done of course.

Hi paula, You are right as I presume. The best or better comes out when there is opposition and contradiction. If we are scared of this there would surely not be any development.

I am a very open minded person, I listen to what other people say whether it may be good or bad. I'm also a person with a kind nature(unless we are talking football :) but thats another story)I really don't get angry with many things. Everybody is different. Best thing to keep in mind is just to treat other people the way, you would like to be treated. It is a very common phrase, but how many people actually listen to it and follow it? Think about that... Think about how many issues and problems can be solved with just following that simple phrase...

Hi kingko, This is obvious that we have contradiction and opposition in every phase of of our life. You simply can not solve he problem of opposition by obliging to this. Neither I ask you to be on the line. But the reality is that unless there is not opposition there is no development.

Of course it upsets me when people dont agree with me. But opposition is needed as an equalizer.

I sometimes feel upset when someone make me wrong about what I believe in, much more when I have more experienced than them. there are both side of opinions, surely there are many that will share their opinion to you, they will make you wrong of what you believe so you have to be ready to proved them wrong.

Hi grecy, This is quite normal to get upset when your opinion or ideas gets contradicted. But this is a wrong notion for there is no ultimate think and no perfection as well. since you are scared you need to take it positively.

No..I don't get upset. I think it is the spice of life that everything is not the same. There are things that I feel very strongly about but I am not angered by the fact that everyone does not agree. I enjoy hearing different views and also love intelligent conversation about them from time to time. That is as long as everyone is civil.

Hi Jen, That is a great spirit not to get upset over trivial mater and also if there is opposition to your ideas and action if they are proved liable to opposition. Positive criticism indirectly helps us improve but the important thing is that we have to acept them in good stead.

For every action there is a reaction ... however you look at it! Personally I don't mind people having different points of view from me: sometimes it makes me mad (silly things like sports!) but I get over it easily ... actually I think that having another perspective is very good and productive - makes you think. If everything were going one way, or if everyone thought the same way ... life would be pretty boring, right?

Hi amarkovi, Yes this is quite human to react sometime when we see people passing silly comments on our action or ideals. The best thing is to be ready for any opposition and if comes any we need to weigh them and if necessary rectify ourselves. I too think that there is no point to get disappointed if at all there is opposition to our action.

An opposition to an idea brings the idea more ground and understanding. Imagine a world with out any opinion, it will be so stagnant, there will be no development. There should always be a opposition to an idea, it makes the person who's idea it is think that is his or hers idea really so strong. I do get upset if there is an opposition to my idea or action, but it also helps to fight for it even more, become dedicated towards the idea. It helps me to seek out the various flaws in my action or idea which I couldn't see.

Hi fireice, This is all human to get upset or frustrated if sometime our ideas or opinions get opposed. This is because we feel we are correct in our own perspective which might not be so in the eye of the majority. Here is what we need introspection and capacity to bear and if necessary start things anew. You are correct without opposition and contradictions our life could get stagnant at one point or the other. Once we are open to all criticism - good or bad we would not progress.

Not in that sense. Being corrected is one thing, the manner of how that other person opposes you is another. I don't really mind being corrected. No one's perfect and someone who hates being opposed is someone who refuses to grow and improve. That's what I always look forward to on every discussion and debate, I like putting my skills and knowledge to test and see how far I can go, I like it when my opponent is so good that he's able to push me to and beyond my limit - that's how I reach the next level.

Hi iamnowriter, I am all eye to eye with you what you have said. Life is not a plain road. There are lots of bumps and hurdles and one needs to see the We should not shy off odd situation that might strike us in our unawareness. Opposition really helps us improve if at all we take it positively. But the irony is that most of us are not ready to take opposition lightly and the result is that we suffer.
