Some of you may have heard about the plane crash here in Austin. Well, fear not, Maggie and I are no where near it! I'm writing from my phone so I'm not giving a detailed account of this ongoing story now, but I post a more complete discussion later. You ever feel the need post a quick note here to assure your friends?

A few years ago when most of our town was flooded, I did call my family who live in other states to tell them the water had not gotten into our house. Most of our closest friends live right here in the neighborhood, so it's not necessary to call them.

when Austin had flooding in 1980, people from other states were calling to make sure we were all right (well, they were calling my folks) But it really was only Shoal Creek and while the house we moved OUT of in 1973 had water in it, we were FINE...

Hey Elic! Really glad to hear that you guys are ok! That was quite a serious story and I am so glad that you weren't anywhere near it! I can't believe how sick this guy was to do something this deranged! But, as long as you two are ok, that's all that matters at this point! Sending you lots of love and hugs and hoping that you will stay safe! Love and hugs, Opal/Leslie

yeah, that was west, we are east - well, I'm not as far east as Maggie, but still when you hear addresses in Austin (and this was in the 9000) block of Research Blvd you have to understand... They measure north and south of the river starting with 1 being the river itself - either direction then they measure east and west with the 100 block going from Congress downtown, to Speedway (the north end of Congress until you run out of that, it moves to Guadalupe, then one block over to Georgian and the east/west divide is 1 block over from where my house is, technically we would be in the 200 block if we were on an east/west street - as it is, we are on a 2 block long north/south street so... I honestly don't know if they measure Research along there as north/south or east/west... does that give you a clue what kind of streets we have in Austin? I did a discussion about streets in Austin and this was one of the ones mentioned - on the east side of Austin its Ed Bluestein, then it turns and becomes Anderson, then, when it crosses the Lamar/Anderson intersection, it becomes Research...

I know what you mean, I did see a fire engine headed out from near Maggie's about that time, it might've been headed for the crash

Yeah, I just read an account of it plus it was mentioned on the 5:00 news (I was paying attention, this time). "They" have identified the pilot as Joseph Stack and said that he posted "a long anti-government screed and farewell note" on the web. His choice of target was deliberate.

I'm very glad you're alright, I had just heard about it and how they are scrambling to reassure everyone that it isn't a terror thing. I also heard the IRS has offices there and the FBI is next door. Maybe it's another fed up citizen who snapped.

sounds like it - and if he got stung like I did by the tax changes and got zapped with a $500 bill! I shouldn't have had to pay - THIS is ridiculous! and if he got hit with this, I can understand why he snapped!

I'm glad that you two are fine. It was scary enough to think about up here in Canada, but must have been even more of a fright to someone who lives in the sme city. I am very glad that you two are doing fine. Thank you very much for keeping us all posted. Have a great day.

Honestly, it was so far away, and even looking on the horizon in that direction I didn't see any smoke/steam - it could've been happening in Canada for all I could tell...

Knock on wood, haven't had anything since I started Mylot that I would need to assure people about for my area. But most people here think I'm from somewhere else anyway.

Yes! Especially on 9/11. I also wrote several friends there to find out if they were all okay (yes). I also wrote Jay in London after some fires in the Tubes, as well as after some of the terrorist explosions. It's a frightening time in which to live. When will the barbarians die away? Maggiepie "They're afraid we're going to take over the government institutions & other institutions. They're right; we will take them over. We are here to stay." ~ Richard Alatorre, Los Angeles City Council (re illegals who support the "Re-Conquistadores" movement from Mexico, who demand the return of California, Texas, New Mexico, & other places they claim as theirs)

I just didn't want my friends who might've heard about this to worry about us. It was probably 10 miles from where Maggie lives

I have to call a few people at a certain time everyday or they think something happened to me. One day my phone was out and a friend of mine came over to check up on me. I had called her and she had to call me back and couldn't and of course she thought the worst.

Thank goodness all is well with you! It is very considerate of you to reassure everyone of your safety! I have not heard much about the crash yet. I have never had to post anything in a hurry and I have not ever tried doing through my phone either. How convenient is that? Technology is good! Once again, glad you’re fine!
