I prefer to buy stuff brand new because 2nd hand goods may have had their quality compromised by the previous owner and I hate the idea of my stuff being old.

Depending on what the merchandise is, most of the time I actually prefer older things. I love old furniture, and prefer it to the shoddy way furniture is made today. I have one sofa, in a classic style, that is at least 30 years old. I've had to recover it a few times over the years, but it's just like new otherwise. The one sofa I bought new and within a couple of years it was ready for the junk heap! Sometimes I'll purchase jackets, dresses, etc, from a second hand store. Only if they have timeless styling and no stains or tears. Some things I would only buy new, like undergarments, shoes, bathing suits, and things like that. As long as an item is in good repair, and clean, I think used is just fine!

That would depend in fact of the things that I'm going to buy. I love that UK hehe. You could really get a lot of bargain and still in very good condition. I was able to buy a lot of stuff through garage sales, surplus shops, Magarbo. In Magarbo sometimes they would have sale like 6 items for P100. Even if you'll get only shirts and shorts to use at home it's still a bargain isn't it? Which tells me I have to visit the shop soon as I'm sure I could fit now to a lot of clothes as I become thinner. Hahaha.

yeah of course, buying electronics should be set aside on this discussion..because that would make us secure of having our electronics warranties from the malls...but in terms of other things, i would suggest u to buy 2nd hand for u to save a lot of money.. thanks..

I love to buy 2nd hand things, when they are useful, of course! Check this out: A new nike tshirt is about R$50 (the cheapest). Yesterday I went to a used clothes store and got a used nike tshirt for R$2! Thats too good to be true, but it is true. My suits and formal clothes I buy new but even then, I buy formal shirts at used clothes stores. The clothes I used to jog and to stay at home, they are all used and I got most of them for less than $5 Not to mention all the household utilities I get from used electronics stores. All of them work fineley and I get them for less than half of the original price. We must encourage this behavior cuz if everyone buys new things and new things only, the world will fill up with out-dated used things that everybody throws out and forgets and then the world will become impossible to live! We must recycle everything that we use or the trash problem will get worser everyday.

I often buy second hand things from charity shops and from eBay. It's a great way to find bargains and save money. There days we can't afford to buy designer label goods or expensive new things, but by looking around you can find some brilliant bargains.

if i can get a better deal on something that is used and in great condition, why not because i like to save as much money as i possibly can. i have often gotten antiques (which i collect) or even brand new things at thrift stores and garage sales.

My daughter and I are into the thrift store thing. I love looking through the stuff others have thrown out, and in fact found a piece of jewerly in one not long ago, that looks so much like the real thing a that I have been ask where I got it and how much did it cost me so many times. I have found many items such as t-shirts, suit jackets, coats, pj's that you might as well say new, cause you can't tell anyone has ever worn them. Mostly I go there looking for books, but my daughter into antiques and she has found some really nice stuff there. To me anything that saves me money is good. I am not proud and gto winter boots there that are the greatest and as far as i know was never worn. I have gotten many pairs of Tommy Heilfiger or how ever you spell it shoes that if worn couldnt' of been more than once as the soles are not even messed up. Some top brand name shoes with the tags still on them. I am into saving money, by finding a bargain there, gives me more to spend some place else.

When I first moved into my apartment a long time ago, I didn't have much to decorate it, and couldn't afford harldy anything. Which prompted me to visit garage sales and thrift stores. I found so much (wall decorations...), and they were really nice things! No one would ever guess they were second hand. I think a lot of people miss out on good deals because it makes them feel weird to buy what used to be other people's stuff. There are just two things I will not buy second hand - shoes and earrings. I understand if other people would, but I won't. The shoe thing is probably unreasonable. In fact, it is probably stupid of me. But a friend of mine caught a fungal infection from a pair of shoes that she bought at a thrift store. Logically, she should have sprayed them down before she wore them. But after seeing her feet...I was a kid at the time, and that image has stuck with me. Strange how things from childhood seem to follow us around - even when they aren't logical.

I don't really care about buying things that are brand new unless I really want the item that I'm purchasing to be quality. Buying second hand things helps us to not be as wasteful as we are. We throw away a lot of things on a daily basis that could be reused and a lot of stores and companies waste a lot of the earth's materials by making stupid things to sell to people.

yeah ur right..we should also consider buying good quality of the object, though its already 2nd hand..and i agree on ur point that buying 2nd hand things helps our mother nature because we recycle things that are still useful and at the same time, we saved a lot of money by doing so.. thanks..!

Yeah, same with you, in my country, second hand stuff is one of so in demand, such as Mobile phone, Notebook, car, even clothes. Actually i prefer to buy brand new ones, but if i have not enough money to buy the brand new ones then i will choose to buy the second hand stuff with so many consideration. thanks

I don't think I have a specific preference over one or the other but I do not mind buying second hand as long as the product still serves its function and is very much usable. I'd probably go for Ukay more often if it was easy to find my size!

I love to buy second hand stuff from garage sales and charity op shops.Stuff is expensive to buy new,so if I can find it second hand all the better.Sure it might not be in perfect condition, but if I can save cash then why the hell not?

It depends on what it is. Clothes are a no-no. But I always look for bargains on more expensive items that I can find for much cheaper through craigslist, ie: furniture, electronics, etc.

I don't have an issue buying secondhand items, if they are something that I need and are in good shape. If you shop for quality stuff, no one will be to tell the difference anyway. I hate to part with my money, why spend money on something new if you don't have to?!

I buy secondhand clothes.I have a lot of nice, designer items I got from a secondhand store.it is one of the reasons why I love secondhand shopping.I get nice, designer items for dirt cheap prices.I also don't like the feeling of walking down the street and see someone with the same dress as me.I buy secondhand clothes, books, and cellphones.

Buying 2nd hand cars that are well maintained or music systems is definitely worth it if you get it for a good deal. But largely, it is good to go for new items or goods sold for the first time.

I always prefer to buy new ones.. not 2nd hand.. because i think if you buy new ones of brand things then you always get benefit of it's brand and warranty .. and it is a also reliable for you.. and suppose if you buy 2nd hand things.. then one thing you may loose and that is Warranty.. offer.. and also it's service.. so i also believe in to buy brand new ones.. have a nice day and keep mylotting always..

hello, yup, i live in Mindanao.. and 2nd hand things are very common in our place. most of the people seek first for "ukay-ukay" rather than brand new products.. like you said its very affordable. that's why i cant blame them choosing 2nd hand things. happy morning!
