Why Can't myLot.com Be More Popular Than facebook.com

Or the sites like friendster.com or twitter.com or any other most popular sites? I fell asleep last night with this question. And it's a kind of dream that it remains in my mind when I woke up this morning. Even how hard we try to promote our beloved mylot.com in our blogs, our favorite social networking sites, we still can't get much population compared to the other sites I have mentioned. What do you think the other sites' advantage over mylot.com? Would you promote mylot.com and help increase its population and popularity? Any thoughts?

Well mylot is something different from Facebook actually. Mylot is for people who want to make their online time productive and profitable while Facebook users are those who just want to socialize and enjoy their time online. Well I for one would rather enjoy and learn and earn at the same time so I would rather stay here at the mylot community. I don't even have a facebook account. Ha!ha!ha!

really, you don't have facebook or even friendster? something unbelievable for one person who is always online. "Mylot is for people who want to make their online time productive and profitable while Facebook users are those who just want to socialize and enjoy their time online." - seems to me that mylot is the place for the poor who wants to earn while facebook is for the rich who wants to just spend their money.v

Yes I have no Facebook and No friendster account either! Those social sites do not attract me at all. I believe they are only for those people young and old who have lots of extra time but not me. Each minute of my life counts and I should profit from it material or otherwise. Instead of engaging in online sites, I would rather engage in sweet talk with my husband!Ha!ha!ha! I believe mylot is not for poor people either. I've seen so many young people who are only depending on their parents for money who are wasting too much time in Facebook. My two nieces who are only depending their studies from my support do have Facebook accounts and would go to our house just to avail of internet for free. Ha!ha!ha! Mylotters are not all poor people dear! How can a poor have computer, laptop and broadband connection? It is for people who wants to do something productive out of their online activities. It is for thinking and wiser people who want to share their ideas, learn ideas from others and gain friends and earn some penny while doing so! So there your are my dear friend!

Hi Neil, I've been promoting myLot to people I know, but I too am puzzled why they can't be interested at myLot as I am. One thing I noticed is that in facebook, you can just enjoy the site, chill out online with friends, say whatever you want and make it your FB status, or just comment on whoever's wall you can get into - no pressure at all. At myLot it's more hard work coz here, you have to make a good discussion to sell to the other members, and sometimes what you actually thought a good discussion turns out to be not as good in terms of the responses it gets . I must admit just thinking of a topic here is nerve-wracking to me, and consider the disappointment if you don't get responses. Here responding also requires some thinking, and a knack for translating those thoughts into sensible and readable response. But while I already have an FB account (I signed up more thatn a month ago), I'm more here that there.

you are right dory. working with mylot is more of a pressure to us, especially that we are not true english speaking people, so we have to translate everything. and the most difficult part of it, is when you think you already have translated well, you think you have completely and clearly translated what we have in mind, and after posting it, there will have misreading or misunderstanding by other people. but you know, i more like here than any other writing jobs online. mylot is not strict with our grammar and spellings. you can see with some posts of our friends from different parts of asia, sometimes we can't fully understand what they try to say in there discussions but still, they earn lots of responses. i have FB for almost a year now, but only in the first month that i became addicted. gladly, i found my way back here. but i frequently visit FB too, so I am kinda decided to go back there more frequently to promote our beloved myLot.

Well, I think for the most part is a lot of people do not really thing posting in Blogs or Forums like this is worth their time. They do not really want to come and talk about real life. They would rather just talk with real friends, or do networking for their Businesses or play games. I know personally I enjoy coming in here from time to time when I can but I also enjoy my time online in other sites as well. But from experience with over 35 referrals and making very little anymore off them as well, it is something to wonder about sometimes as well.

hi neildc well I came to mylot just because I did not like facebook, too many people had been hurt there, and I found mylot to be unique, we did not have to have a dumb chat room where people wasted hours doing nothing but just talking. anyone who has worked inthe public for years wants a little less chatting not more of it. I dont think of these chat rooms as advantages for me any way, I like mylot because it is so different from the others. maybe we need to appeal more to those who long for more than just mere longwinded silly chats, but something meaty like mylot discussions.sometimes people past the chat room age are looking for more so they are the ones to target perhaps the people from 30 to 90 instead of teenager to 30, as older people are more interested in serious topics while the younger people love to talk and talk and talk. this is just my own take on it.

hello neil, Well,it is becoz, some people are not aware of mylot. Like here in our country where FS is the most popular..but not popular in other countries. Mypage5 is not also popular here in our country like FB. Orkut is not even much known here in our country(the only social sites that never pays which i had an account and,i had almost a thousand of pictures uploaded to that site) I also had a hard time inviting friends to join here in mylot. One more reason aside from the popularity is...they prefer to play games like in FB rather than earning online(ugh..maybe they don't need cents like i do...hehehe)

Facebook is more popular because it is really dedicated in social networking. The pictures the comments no rules the games. Its kind of a chill out place where you could just have fun and interact. Mylot for me is for those that really would love to hear what the other people has to say about it. You would usually see paragraphs here. :)

I'm rather glad that MyLot isn't like Facebook or MySpace. Both those sites are just so out there and always have problems with kids and issues in real life and they all come from being on those sites. I am glad MyLot is as it is and not like them. I feel comfortable here, I have made friends here and get so much out of MyLot. I have a facebook and a myspace. I have deleted MySpace and still have the Facebook but dont' do much with it. To carry on a discussion there is stupid, complicated and time consuming. I ask a question here and get great answer and help. I can help others and make friends and have a good time, yet come here for information, help and fun. I hope MyLot stays just as it is and doesn't try to compete with those others.

that could be the one that mylot is better than those social networking sites, we are not so populated so we have less problems, it's not too complicated to work with. we have lots of good friends, we are having good time sharing each others thoughts and help from each other too.

I think their is less pressure in facebook when it comes to arguments and cultural differences since it is not a writing sites but a networking intended for friendship and networking. Unlike here in mylot where everyone need to make a discussion and comments which could be either a source of agreement and disagreement. Their is aneed to earn to reach payout while if a member feel bored here they go to facebook to play games and chat with friends which is another form of recreation and relaxation at the same time with less stress.

You need patience. Mylot will not overtake facebook overnight . Currently there are more than 300 million facebook users compare to mylot 200,000 (most are inactive ). But we should not really worry too much about it. Although, it's sad sometimes to think that a lot of people are not able to share what we have experienced here on mylot not because they don't want to but because they don't have an idea that a site like mylot exists.

I think that mylot is great, but there are a lot of sceptics out there that have been scammed so much that there is no point anymore continuing. I mean until I actually got paid, I didn't think I'd get very far with mylot. It was a nice place, but I wasn't too sure. Its not so much the advertizing, because Mylot does have a large number of users, but you are going to get those that are like.... you're kidding me... right?

Let's face it, sometimes participating in discussions becomes boring. Playing those amazing facebook applications amuses us that we dont notice how time flies. In myLot, we do a lot of thinking. In facebook ,our mind can relax. I do both alternatively, when i need to chillax :)

@lipstick2009 i could not agree with you that mylot is becoming boring. with your number of posts, you still have to explore over 2 million discussions already posted. you could never get bored if you will just search your interests. we could probably get tired answering and responding to lots of discussions but boring, never. search for your interest. if you want to relax after getting tired, we also have fun stuff with quizzes and games. @joannaleed i agree, and there are really times that i run out of english words. but that's the thrill comes in, when we start typing we start thinking. and in the long run, we type a lot. sometimes, i couldn't imagine myself, being a technical man, writing long english. well, maybe, we can't compare the two, but all that i wish, is for mylot to at least be as popular as facebook. as in, you go places and people will talk about mylot. something like that.

I'm promoting it in my blogs and will be talking about it to people, not much more we can do. If you know HTML or BBC coding, you can create a banner or button on your website. I know we should be learning basic HTML anyway especially if we're serious about online marketing.

Facebook, Myspace, twitter and the like are set up quite differently. They capture a certain segment of the population. In facebook, you can't really write a discussion like we can in Mylot. I like Mylot better because it causes me to think. Facebook for me is just to say hello to friends or make dates to meet them someplace. Mylot will never be as popular, because Mylot is basically for people who like to write. There is nothing wrong with that at all, we have a talent we like to share with others (and make a bit of money whilst doing it) and other people have other gifts and talents that do not require writing. Mylot would have to make some changes if they were to capture the other networking sites audiences.

in facebook, we can still write notes that you can say anything and everything, right? and we can still discuss things through commenting on photos, status, etc. i don't say it's wrong or a kind of something is missing or something, it's just that i wish we are more, more than number of how much we are here now. mylot is still growing in population, but of course, if you can get them here, the more the merrier.

Good question asked. I have been wondering about it too once. I think mylot is unique as it cater for like-minded people who like to write. While the other places like facebook uses games to attract members and twitter is more on promotional basis for business online. I like this place a lot and have been here for more than 3 years now while I do have membership with faceboook and twitter but doesn't find it attractive there.

I think that maybe because of the fact that they have greater exposure. Like suddenly the rave is about Twitter and Facebook; and they are social networking sites which allow certain aspects. Like for instance on Twitter, people can just post any links, and they tend to promote their referral links and writing links etc2x. As for Facebook, for those whom love to interact, or play games right up to developing applications. Hence, the market is there, so that's why I think sites like that are successful. Not to say that myLot is not.. I see the population already at 199,000++ and that's a very positive sign that myLot is growing.

ok nocturn and mandy, but why is it that more people enjoy those sites than mylot, when they is earnings here and those sites only waste our time and money but nothing to earn?

26 Feb 10
I think that we all like to think we may make money from our discussions, so I agree with Nocturn. I mean on facebook people waste hours of time playing the games, and sending messages, often to virtual strangers, whereas it is meant to be for friends. Facebook doesn't pay a dime, so I see the time spent on there as not as profitable, as on here. I personally dislike the social sites, and prefer mylot. Also the traffic is good here if you have a website. I like the mylot theory we all work and make the Site explode and we get rewarded at the same time as cghatting to some people that we would never have talked to.
