How to work when you are tired? Are you in one days work, after a night when you have not slept well, you want to stay alert, make the most of your time, and avoid getting distracted or making silly mistakes. You know a few things that can hold up for 8 hours, and at the same time work better? For me, if i take a cold shower, i drink a big cup of black coffee and i try to move few minutes around, time to time, in this 8 hours, can make me to resist until i ll go home. And for sure i ll drink a lot of water, all time water help me to keep hydration saps my concentration .

Hi, Ice! I wake up feeling as if I could sleep for many more hours, every time the alarm rings at 3:30 in the morning so I can get ready for work. I really think I should be able to sleep until dawn, but it's still dark when I get to work, and with no windows in the building, I don't find out whether the sun came up until lunch break. I drink a lot of coffee after a few stretching exercises, then a shower. I don't think I can make it, but I do, and when my students start coming in, I'm fully awake and alert, and ready to get going. I always thought I'd get used to the early hours some day, but affter 42 years, I'm still a mess in the morning!

That's about it, Ice. Then, one day of each weekend, I sleep for about 8 hours, and I'm completely refreshed. It's not a good way to do things, but it's become a habit.

I would still go to work, but I wouldn't like it much. A shower does often help a lot...

Hello ice! It is very true that if you could not sleep properly last night, you won't be able to discharge your duties the next day. The options you have mentioned are perfecr and these options keep you awake. In this kind of situation the key to me is - I should not sit idle and should be on the move, either physically or mentally or both, then I would be able to cope up with.

Fortunately I don't need coffee to keep me alerts if I've had less than 8 hours of sleep. Like last night, I think I've only had about 4 and as soon as my sister woke me up, I got up ate breakfast and showered. I think breakfast in itself is enough to wake me up. I do get sleepy in the afternoons though, especially when I don't take a nap during lunch hour. But for me, even if I hadn't slept at all, I still turn up for work.

There are so many times in my life that I wished that I could be like that but it's just not in me. I was raised with an old school work ethic. You go to work everyday. If you're sick, you go in anyway and go home only if your boss sends you home. I have friends who have no problem calling in sick because they're tired or sometime just because they have something better to do.

I work for myself, so i can work in the middle of the night if I feel like it. LOL If I don't sleep one night, I just sleep in the next day and do my work when I wake up. My studies are the same way. Studying by correspondence means I can do what I want, when I want, just as long as it gets done.

I haven't missed a days work in 16 or plus years. I really don't remember missing a days work that was not excused. Tired is not a good excuse. Heck..I work 2nd shift, come home at 11"30 and get to bed by 1am and up by 5am and run and still go into work at 2 pm ....I'm 53 so in my mind tired is not a good excuse. Coffee and iced water ....a good shower....all will wake you up.

I didn't sleep well last night because of the mosquitoes. I was awake for more than four hours beating the mosquitoes and making sure that my body is completely covered. This morning I saw some mosquito marks on my hand and they hurt. I am scared becuase there are lots of diseases spread through mosquitoes. I felt very sleepy this morning because of imporper sleeping, last night. But, I didn't take leave, in fact I came to work a little late.

i work at night shifts and sometimes its difficult to sleep at daytime, sometimes I have friends that work in other places who visit. but even I had slept during the day or not, I still go to work. I just sleep during breaktime and eating some nsaks once in a while helps a lot.

To work when you feel tired is difficult, isn`t it? In my actual job I never feel bored, so even if I am tired and sleepy, I manage to wake up immediately. If I haven`t slept well I get my caffeine overdose, and try to drink cold water often as it makes me feel more fresh and a little less sleepy.

I drink also a lot of water, the cold shower is also a very good one, I have gone through that so many times, when i was student, and even now, sometimes I have to work a lot and to very late hours, so at the other day I am really tired, and I have to do miracles to stay awake, but I think at some point you get so used to sleep so little that you don't even feel it.
