Quite often we meet people who are so self obsessed that they don't listen to other people at all. They are too engrossed expressing their own views and ideas and don't even listen to others.I have encountered a few such individuals who believe that they know everything about the world and always have something to say without listening to others.Such individuals are very difficult to contend with and sometime they really get into your nerves. However we all know that one must be a good listener to be a good orator.Almost all the best orators of the world were good listeners too.The reason is obvious. If you don't listen to others then why should they listen to you? What do you think?

I wonder what Hitler has to do with it, heheh! Anyway back to the topic, that is why we have given two ears to hear better than to speak. It is true that listening is important. It does not make you a better person if you can speak better. It is important to listen and say your part if the other person has already shared his or her own point.
In a relationship, people do collide if both wanted to speak, there will be no understanding. But if we are a good listener, then we can easily solve a problem or conflict.
I don't know about orators that gained fame because they are also good listeners. But what I do emphasized is that when a person is a good listener, he can gain more friends and knowledge rather than those who claims to be a better speaker.
