I just heard from the news about the Chile Earthquake. I was not worried because Chile is far from our country but I heard in the news that several places in the Philippines is in danger of being hit by Tsunami because of the Chile Earthquake. I also saw that my province is one that has alert on. I hope and pray that it will not happen at all.

The tsunami alert is over. Thank god it did not happen because if it did, i can be even more devastating compared to what happened in Thailand. I watched an episode on National Geographic channel about tsunamis and it's really something to watch out for as it can be very destructive. No one is safe if your located near sea level.

When I heard that Hawaii lowered their alert level I was kind of relieved that we may follow suit. I also heard that we even put the alert level 2 during the day and there were parts that evacuated already. But no big waves came in and I felt very relieved that nothing happened at all. I think the prayers were stronger than the Tsunami.

There are tsunami waves that came but it's just about 60 to 90 cm as reported on TV. I saw it flashed in my TV screen as i was jumping from one TV channel to another yesterday. This goes to show how unpredictable mother nature is. Almost all comments on TV are telling people to watch out for tsunamis. I guess a lot of people prayed and as you've said, prayer is far more stronger than science. Common logic would say that a tsunami will come considering the magnitude of the earth quake but it did not came. Thank god it did not came since my family in the province live just a few meter from the sea.

I'm out of the country right now, but am praying for you guys in the Philippines. I'm hoping that everyone will be safe and that tsunami will not actually hit the Philippine shore and to all other countries which are alerted regarding the same. Hope that everything will be ok and everything will be back to normal the soonest time possible.

You can lay your fears over because I think that the 24 hours has already expired. I guess that we have not experienced any unusually high waves for the past hours. Let us thank God it did not happen at all.

So far we are far from experiencing it but it may hit us within 21 to 24 hours. I guess there is nothing to worry about in the meantime. Let us hop and pray for those that were directly hit by the quake and let us pray that it will not reach us anymore. We really do not need that in our current situation.

We should be alert anytime now. Pray and hope that it lessen or maybe does not arrive. I think we should be thankful enough that we could prepare. Unlike Chile or Haiti. Without knowing, warning or anything they got struck.

Fortunately, there are agencies that can predict Tsunami's happening in the Pacific. I think we should prepare ourselves no matter how far that may be. I am keeping my fingers crossed that nothing of the warnings will happen in our place. I think calamities like this are the ones we don't want to happen in our place.

When there was a Chilean Earthquake only Japan is always hit or some part of the Eastern Russia. I heard New Zealand sea level rise. Worst tsunami the Asia or Indian Ocean Tsunami that kills 240,000 people in 12 countries in Asia - Africa region in span of 7 hours, the wave said , same speed of a 747 passenger jet.

Philvolcs said that Philippines was among hit although during that timne there were less casualties as there were less people living on the coastlines at that time. The Asian Tsunami that happened in Indian Ocean was worst because that was teh first time to happen in that area. There were no devices to detect that Tsunami was happening at that time.

So sad to see what is happening to Chile right now, and it was just a month after Haiti`s disaster. Like Chile, Indonesia is also prone to quake, as it sits on Pacific Ring of fire. There are lots of active volcanoes in Indonesia. Two strong quakes hit Indonesia last year, and there are still some moderate quakes in some parts of Indonesia. hope those who are looking for their friends and loved ones can find information ASAP about their condition. Disaster can`t be avoided, but it can be minimized.

I think we are on the same situation here. We have lots of active volcano and is in the same Pacific ring of fire the only difference is that Indonesia is on the oouter ring and Philippines is on the inner ring and the Chilean earthquake will likely hit us first because we are facing the open seas of the Pacific Ocean which is rather dangerous.

I will certainly pray for you and your country as well as the people in Chile and all countries that could be affected by the earthquake and tsunamis. It was a very bad earthquake as I have family that lives in Chile. Fortunately they are alright but there is lots of damage to their belongings and property. Hope that the tsunami misses your country and other places. Hawaii did not get it real bad. Hope everyone is being cautious and following instructions if there is an evacuation. It is definitely a scary time. Japan just had a earthquake the other day and now Chile.

I sincerely hope that your family would be spared from further destruction. Because as far as I know there will be more quakes that may happen after the big ones. With regards to us being hit by Tsunami I think we will be spared from it since Hawaii was spared already. From what I heard New Zealand has experienced unusually high tides and waves but there were no casualties reported as of yet.

Philippines being a small island in the Pacific is one of the countries that can experience tsunami. So far nothing is happening as of yet but then they say that it could be 24 hours before it could be felt if it will indeed reach us. I sincerely hope and pray it would not.

What is your province. You know it is really possible that many countries near the Pacific Ocean will experience Tsunami because of the vibration of Earthquake. I heard there was a small waves on Sorsogon yesterday. We should be thankful that Tsunami did not happen and hopefully will not happen. I am afraid of Earthquake, before was Haiti now it was Chile. What country is next.

Mine was Camarines Sur. We were one of the target of Tsunami as history has told during the 1960s Chilean Earthquake Philippines was one of the countries stricken by Tsunamis before and so is Hawaii. So as precautionary measures we were given a 24 hour warning to prepare for it coming. But it did not come at all. I am glad that even if it looks like a false alarm it is better than it really happened and we're taken by surprise.

Yes we may have felt the milder waves from the Tsunami. I think the strength of the waves have lessened while travelling along the the ocean. When I heard about Hawaii being spared I was a bit relieved about it. I think if the waves were not able to reach Hawaii then the possibility that strong waves reaching is would not happen. Although I heard that Japan and Russia did not put down their alert level.

Hello Rsa, we ALL have to be prepared since these earth quakes that had happened were near to our shores and it could happen to us as well. i can't really guarantee that we would all survive if that happens, but we can only guarantee that being prepared would minimize the damage or the casualties.

Although Chile is very far from us but since the intensity of the quake was really strong and it happened in a coastal area the possibility that Tsunami is on the way towards many of Pacific countries. Unfortunately, we are located on it thus endangering mostly the eastern portion of our country. I think we in Metro Manila would not be in danger but the quezon provinces here in Luzon and eastern visayas as well as the Eastern Mindanao portions will be affected. I read from one site that there were recorded 9 feet high waves. I hope that would lessen by the time it reaches our shores.

This is really making me worry. Since the Philippines belongs to the Pacific Ring of Fire, we must really be prepared for the worst. I hope the Tsunami won't push through despite the alerts.People living in shorelines are now panicking. I hope this won't happen and no lives will be put in danger. Let us Pray and Ask God to help us.

I guess we're out of danger already as there was no big waves that came in after the 24 hours warning came in last night. I think it is finally over right now. Let us thank God for all of that. I think divine providence has intervened for this not happening at all.

I think the crisis if over as the 24 hour warning has expired and there was no incident of extremely high waves that came in our shores. I think we can all rest and thank God for this not happening in any parts of our country.
