Asparagus

I don't really know how to spell asparagus but I really like it but I have never cooked it myself. It has always been when I have gone out to eat somewhere or at a family members home that I have ate this at. do you know how to cook this and what dish this goes good with? Please share your thoughts and thank you.

Hi ja,
Asparagus are easy to cook. Put them in boiling water after washing and trimming the hard end. Retire when tender. It takes a little time, not much more than green beans. I like mine with a homemade mayo with garlic. You can also use it as you would any other veggie and put a vinagraite to pour over them. You can serve them with fish and cooked potatoes. They are wonderful many ways.

Have you tried aspargus with mushroom soup? Would that be any good or maybe some lemon sauce?

I cannot picture both asparagus and mushrooms together. I feel they would fight over who is the king (or queen?) of the dish. Lemon sauce sounds a lot better.

Hi ja,
In my home my wife or daughter in laws don't know how to cook asparagus, so i have never ate, it is not so popular here, more over in the markets you can't buy fresh variety of this, only dried, people make powder and eat as medicines, some steam it to make soft; it is supposed to cure cancer

We love asparagus! I wash it and cut off the hard ends. I put it inside of tin foil with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper. I wrap it up so that it is not leaking and put it on the top level on my BBQ grill while I am cooking the burgers and steak - the asparagus are slowly cooking. They are delicious!
