My neighbour has a pug who is 8 months old. He is very cute and quiet adorable. Me and my hubby really like him a lot and not a single day passes when he is not in our house. (It is a big thing coz we are not dog lovers and this is actually the first dog that we have petted) There seems to be a problem this cute pug always urinates in our house and we really do not like it. Once I got so irritated that I gave him a good spanking but still he continues to do it. We really like him a lot and now the only thing I would have to do is not let him enter my house which I would really not want to. So could anyone please help or let me know from where I could get to know the solution. Thanx.

Dogs are really territorial. They always urinate to places which they think is their territory. Sometimes they urinate because she's excited and happy seeing you. The same with my dachshund, whenever I get home, she's very excited to see me and when I reach for her, she always pee on my shoes. I always say NO! and lead her outside the house. Later on, she had learned to control her bladder and pee outside the house.

I suppose I should keep him tied (I really feel sorry) but take him out to pee so that he learns maybe that would do the trick. Thks for reponding.

That is why my native dog Bern sometimes pee a little whenever I reached home and he's really excited to see me. Can you put diaper to that dog, I guess it will fit since pug is small but a lot of work.

It's a good thing to train the dog whenever you have time. After a meal, take him outside and wait for him to poop or urinate.lways open the door and whenever he's about to pee (if you noticed it) push him or carry him outside. Do this over and over again and he'll learn to do it. If ever you see him pee in your house, tell him the word "no" point the urine and say "no". Never hit a dog =(. If you really can't control the urinary problem, you should be the one to visit him everyday. =)

Thanks so much for taking out the time and responding. He does pee in the bathroom in my neighbour's house. I do not have so much time as to run around checking when he is about to pee as I have quiet a big house and he runs around. If I were to run along with him then I would lose atleast 10 kgs in 10 days. Thanks for the suggestion of me paying him a visit. :-)

There is only one certain solution: Keep the dog out of your house! It has been poorly trained--or not trained at all. But, if you insist on bringing a dog into your house--where you know it's going to urinate and end up costing you thousands of dollars down the road in cleaning and carpet replacement--stay close to him, watch him every second and when he starts to hike his leg, grab him roughly by the collar, take him to the door and throw (not set or put) "throw" him outside. Unless the animal is retarded, after a few times of this treatment, he will get the message. He will then start watching you like a hawk when he's in your house and if he starts to hike his leg, he will be looking at you and all you will have to do is make a move like you're going to grab him and he'll change his mind. After a few times of this, he will learn that he's not allowed to pee in your house. But I still say just keep the mutt out of your house, he's not even your dog for Chris' sake! (PS - If you can't throw the dog outside because of his owner, you could try cutting a small switch and hitting him very hard when you see him start to hike his leg--not just a tap--hard enough to make him yelp in pain, and this will work, too, although he may not be able to figure out if what he's doing wrong is peeing in your house, or peeing in general!)
