Hi mylotters. The story is here. Today, after commenting back to all the responses that i received in my latest discussion, i start to response to some new discussions. Oh, it is started 2 hours ago. Anyway interesting topic and i have responded. Then i give a look to all the responses and oh, the starter has already selected the best response. It has made me surprised bcoz just after 2 hours the selection has done whereas that discussion is about to receive more than 10 another responses( i think). There is a chance to have a better response than the previous one. So, i think its not fare. I have no complain to the starter that he/she has selected wrong one. That was pretty good but he/she should not jump to the conclusion so quickly. Just wait for a day. Isn't it? After 2 hours. Why? What do u think? I think the starter may repent after receiving a mindblowing response. Right? Have you ever repent same? Please share

hello shibham, yeah sometimes its surprising to see that after a few hours the best response have been selected already...but i don't really mind it! hehe its their post & they have every right to do so. we can never know what's on their mind & their reason for doing so, maybe the response that they get really hits them that makes them hit the BR button as well! actually i have seen one before, that after just a few minutes on the 3rd reply, she give the Br! its surprising but i think she just given it to the right person...and the response answers what she wants to know and get... with me, i don't usually give br's right away...in fact i still have lots of unresolved discussions...sometimes its also difficult to choose which is which...huh! good day yaar!

hehe, well i know that it is written on the guidelines, but i guess there's no violation made as well when we award the br that fast! i think its still with the posters discretion and its choice to whom the br should be given...what might be best for us is not best for others... its my opinion friend...

hi ckyera, as the mylot guidelines, we have to wait atleast a week before selecting the MBR, not a day. its not the emotion and you cant say that she has done it to the right person bcoz next to him/her, more interesting response might receive. right? yes, i have seen it that u have maximum unresolved dis as well. thanks for response. good day too.

I too have observed it but for my own peace I do not make issues as there is a lot here which we can enjoy and not bother about these things. You are absolutely right one should wait atleast for a day before deciding on giving the BR tag.

I don't think many people care about when they select their best respondent. There are a number of approaches one can take to making this selection including waiting until responses stop and then choosing one to be best in order to get the discussion back to the top of one's activity list and potentially seen again. I think all that matters is that we find friends we can relate to and have happy discussions with them. We can contribute to others' discussions as we have something to say and just leave it at that.

I don't worry about my discussions anymore; I just don't have much time for it. I started two recently and it took me over a week to comment on the responses and to reciprocate to everyone. Some days I don't get on myLot at all because the rest of my life takes up so much time. I now have a growing list of unresolved discussions.

Hi canellita, its very true but to find your old dis on the top of your activity list, u may add a comment to a respondent. I dont think that someone select MBR to get this process. Thanks.

Hi there, friend.:-) I have never come across to such situation yet. As a matter of fact, I have never given anyone a BR yet(sadly...) .It is not because I haven't found any response worthy of such remark but I am still waiting and sometimes, there are two or more responses that I want to rate as BR. Maybe, the starter had chosen the respondent's comment as BR because for her/him it is already the best even if others may come still. Let's not forget that we are only voicing and receiving opinions here. We may considered it the best but others will tend to look for more and expect something better. I'd say, we can't blame your starter for choosing the BR as early as after 2 hours. Have a great day, my dear.:-)

oh eureka, its your duty and mbr is a great honor to your respondents nad being influenced he/she will involve himself/herself with your dis even better. you are depriving them. no case. get busy with it now. hahaha. no no, i never blame but according to mylot guide lines we are bound to wait for a week. i have nothing to say against the starter. its his/her will, but we all are friends here and we should point out others weakness for a better friendship. thanks for response. nice day.

Hello my friend I know what you mean, I usually wait a while before I choose my "BR" but I notice some people pick theirs really quick, to each his own I guess but it does make one wonder why the rush, sometimes responding to mylot digest I see the best response has already been awarded I still respond but it makes me wonder why would the poster do this so soon, maybe they have no intention of returning to the discussion who knows my friend, it does make you think, hmmm Thanks.

I don't rush to give my br as responses to my discussions come in very slowly maybe due to the difference in world clock. Some have taken me few months before I am able to resolve my discussion. They are still generating responses. I suppose the starter of the discussion is a newbie or have found the response at that material time the best and quickly awarded the br.

hi zandi, no, the starter has more than 1000 posts against his/her username, u know sometimes veterans too rush to the conclusion very quickly. i think probably they find their favorite response at the very beginning. anyway i am also checking now hgow many dis are unresolved against my account and ready to select MBR. thanks for response.

Hi shibham, I never repent for my decision because I have given enough time before selecting a BR. In fact I have unresolved discussions now and I am seriously thinking to resolve it. Yes all are old enough and I started my last discussion before one moth. I am not getting much time for mylotting in these days, it is the truth. I agree with you, it may disappoint when the poster selected the BR too fast. Guidelines are (for the time frame for selecting a br) there but who bother?

One month is enough but the problem is I have not finished my comments so let me complete that first. (I am very lazy in mylot, what to do..?)

When I respond on a discussion I don't give any thought at all about receiving the best response. I also respond on discussions regardless of whether it has been awarded or not. Yesterday I responded on one and within a very short space of time I had been awarded BR. It is embarassing to receive it so soon and we are told in the FAQs to wait at least one week so that other responses which could be better can be placed on the discussion too. personally I wait much longer befoe awarding it. Some of my discussions are still unresolved because there are several responses which are worth of it.

hi, i am the same with you. its not my look out whether it is already marked best response or not, i just share my views if i have something to share with. it is realy amazing. how a mylotter can decide this honor very quickly? i forgot that we should wait for a week before selecting mbr. i apologize for it. i have too some discussions which are still unresolved with more than 50 responses. thanks for response.

It dosen't really matter to me if discussion already has a best response I'll still respond if the topic is interesting enough to me, though I think its best if we waite at-least a week before selecting a best response to give others a fair chance, but other then that it dosent bother me that much.

Hi Shibham, I know I am quite an impatient guy and NEVER have the patience to read out those manuals or pages of text - The TOC anywhere. I know this is quite wrong but then I feel free to ask people (seniors) around on the site about the rules and also learn them from my own mistakes. I never have marked the BR in such a small time. I wait at least 24 hours (and after the responses I got on my thread wrt this here) I will now wait longer - One or two weeks. Cheers, theSids

Hi friend... You may not know all the rules and terms of mylot, It's a genuine matter for a newcomer. When i was a newbie, i also did some mistakes as well. Yet, i have to learn a lot here in mylot. Hope you will take at least one week before selecting a MBR, so that a lamentation can't take place. Have a nice day.

Hi shibham, I was unaware about when to mark a good comment as BR because I haven't read the guidelines but thanks for telling me about it. Maybe, my action was due to over excitement that I've received a good response few minutes after I started a discussion..I laughed then!

I have just started doing this but I am being to understand what you mean. You have to give a discussion sometime before you find out just how popular anyone topic is going to be. There always could be a better response to any question.

It is not the question of time that is the criteria in selecting the best response. It is purely personal. The moment the starter feels satisfied about the answer why should he wait for other responses to come.Who is to judge the best response. It is only the starter and who are we to say that the starter should have waiter for longer period to select the best response and we are not here to select the best response other the starter. The time limit in FAQ is only for the guidelines for the members ..

Thank you very much for agreeing with my view.May be starter of discusion can wait for some time. The impulse to select early the best answer may be responsible. As you rightly say we cannot force any one to act in a particular way.All the best...
