I'm sure it'll melt fast for you being in TX! Here however it's finally starting to melt & I'd be glad to send you more if you'd like.

It did melt, before dark, but the roomie took the pictures. I'm looking forward to those 70's again!

I'm from Texas and I went to graduate school in Austin back in the early mid-seventies. One winter we had a big snowfall, on the ground for two weeks, which also coincided with a natural gas shortage, it was all being sent from Texas to the North East because of contractual agreements. You saw a lot of bumper stickers saying let them freeze in the dark. The U.T. campus, except for essential parts, was shut down for those two weeks as well as classes being canceled. The Physics building was considered essential, so I went in to the lab everyday anyway.

Wasn't 72-73 bad as well? I think it is extra hard on people who do not get it often.

winter of 74-75? I was up in Denton at TWU that year - and we had some snow or the next one, I don't remember 75-76 being that cold, but I was living with my folks at that point (watching my mom and sister argue that they don't remember doing) Now, up in Denton we had a LOT of snow the winter of 76-77, like every Sat night for the entire month of Jan!

It was probably 74-75 since I was finishing up in 75-76 and was through with lab work. I'm from Denton but I was working in N.J. in 76-77 and there was a lot of snow there too, two 18" snowfalls welcomed me to my first winter in N.J. I must have gone home to Denton for Christmas that winter(76-77) but I don't remember how snowy it was there.

I am glad you got a little share of our snow. We have been more cold than usual, but I think they said we have not really had more snow than usual. It was just spread out more or something. I know Texas had a lot of snow and ice winter of 72 and 73, cause kids went home to Dallas from Kansas and could not get back. It was solid Ice all the way down.

That must be what I was thinking of. My friend came up from OKC and had an awful time getting back for her job.

yeah, our cats, well, the ones who didn't want to sleep thru the event, were pretty interested in why the world was the strange color - but since we don't let them outside, they didn't get to walk in it!

most of them slept thru the whole deal, it was too cold, in their never to be humble opinion! A few looked at the stuff coming down and wondered why the world was turning a funny color

I did not know that it snowed down there. LOL I thought it was way too hot in Texas for a lot of rain or snow. then again this winter, it seems to be snowing everywhere, including Florida. LOL How shocking is that? Last week we got snow up here in Canada, that held up traffic for an entire day. It took an hour to drive a mile. We are used to snow up here, but THAT much snow is unusual for Southern Ontario.

I had a look at your photo and left a brief comment. It sure is pretty. There is no way I would ever see that where I live. Does the snow get to be a lot of work for you? Shovelling it, etc?

that is the most snow and ice we've seen in some time, we don't even KNOW how to shovel it here - we just try to stay inside and HIDE - well, some folks go out and play in the stuff, but we really don't know what else to do with it... don't ask an Austinite to DRIVE on it!!! that's asking for a WRECK!

actually, there's a little one you can't see lying next to the big one! ya know, the yard used to seem bigger, before it had 5 sheds in it... (and the house went out another 12 feet in back...) and store in them? Well, the blue one has the roomie's stuff, the red one (that you can't see but is next to the brown one) has the OTHER roommate's stuff and the green one (that you also can't see but is on the other side of the blue one) is my craft stuff -but I tried to get in it the other day and couldn't get the doors open... and the white one just is crammed full of more stuff I guess that's what we get for taking on 5 or so household's worth of stuff in the last 12 years

Here in the UK I think we have had more than our fair share of snow :-D I must admit, though, I love watching the snow falling and it looks wonderful. It's still cold here but with the first stirrings of spring I can't wait for my bulbs to start flowering.

Wow, nice yard! I pictured you way out in the country in a big old house with a huge barn. It's nice to have snow once in awhile, isn't it? I've had quite enough of it this year, we've had nearly 30" which is most unusual for southwestern Ohio. I may be able to put my car into my garage this weekend if the snow melts with the higher temps--it's on the street now, only because my friends shoveled me a place! What do you keep in the sheds?

well, the blue one has the roomie's stuff in it, the brown one is mostly furniture and stuff, we have a green one that is almost all craft stuff, but I can't get into it... and a white one that's miscellaneous stuff and a red one that is only the other roommate's stuff - that's the stuff she couldn't get into her public storage spot when she had to move

Hi Elic, I love snow but we have had so much of that I am so glad that its all gone, it has been so cold of late, I just want the spring to arrive as my daffs are in buds, it a lovely sight to see. Tamara

We're just thawing out from the heavy snowstorm we had last week...two to three FEET of it...LOL--It looks so great the day it snows and maybe a day later, but then it gets into a horrible slushy mess--oh, and of course one has to be aware of..."yellow" snow..

Well, catching up with some discussions that I've missed. lol We had 7" of snow on the 22nd of Feb. up here in the hill country. It was beautiful, but I'm ready for the cold and snow to go away. I had enough of the white stuff over the past several years livin in the Northeast! But ya gotta love Tx weather, cold and rainy one day, in the 70's the next.

Is what I see the snow or your avatar (a bunch of cats)? It is so small that I can't make out the details. I think it is cats, a black one stands out.

We still have tons of snow! They removed it to parks and areas like that. One year they put it in the rivers and then of course it flooded. Someone said the kids will be playing baseball in the snow. That is how long it will take to melt it all. Why do you have so many sheds?

well, people kept moving out and leaving me stuff or dying and leaving me stuff or moving in with stuff... the blue shed is mostly the roomie's stuff and we have a red one full of the other roomie's stuff there's a green one with just craft stuff, that I can't get into! and I don't have the strength do take the stuff out!
