If you could live in any book, what would one you live in and why?

There are so many books to choose from, and we, as readers, tend to read to immerse ourselves in a story, in a different reality. There are all kinds of universes and worlds, a different one in every story! And so, I wonder, which one would you want to live in and why would you want to live there?

Ooh! I don't know. Probably a high fantasy like Lord of the Rings or Chronicles of Narnia. Actually, I'm pretty sure I'd pick Chronicles of Narnia. Then I could go to the world-between worlds (In Magagian's Nephew) and have all sorts of worlds to choose from and hop between.

OH! Wow, good response.I almost forgot about the Chronicles of Narnia. You'd have to figure out a way to remember how to get back and forth from the worlds though.

I would love to live in "Beach Girls" by Luanne Rice. The story is set in a fictional town called Hubbard's Point which is on the New England coast. Her books remind me of growing up at the beach myself. Her vivid descriptions and the wonderful characters who inhabit the town make me want to live their. Ms. Rice so captivates me that two years ago, I talked DH into taking me on a a vacation there and we spent three week driving and exploring the coastline. The books are so much more meaningful to me now that I can visualize the locations.

The best part of reading is being able to visualize what you're reading. I have never read this particular book, but I do love the beach. And I'm glad you got to experience the beach in a way that made literature that much more important and meaningful to you. Thanks for responding. I love to hear what other people think about literature.

Would have to be a Tolkien book for me, The Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit. The magical places that his work takes me to in my mind are far more interesting than anything that i have ever experienced in real life! Wouldn't like the orcs and nasties running about too much but hey, we got real life nasties running about in this world and no magical groves to counter balance!

Tolkien came to mind, myself. Being an English major, I idolize literature, and Tolkien is my favorite author! I'd love to be in Middle Earth. Do you know that there are quite a few other books he wrote pertaining to Middle Earth? Same setting and all. I wouldn't like the orcs either, but hey, in Middle Earth, you get to be a badass and stick a sword through them or shoot 'em down with a bow. Or maybe an axe. It's your choice, really. Or elf magic. All kinds of fun, BA things. Thanks for your input! I'm glad to meet a fellow Tolkien fan.
