What does your umbrella look like?

Strange woman - this woman looks strange, but dry.

Here in my part of Australia we are going through a big wet period. It has been raining non stop for over a week now and it doesn't look like it's going to let up. As a result I have seen lots of different and colourful umbrellas on the streets. My umbrella is just a plain black one with a wooden handle. What sort of umbrella do you have?

It doesn't rain very much where I am, so I don't have to worry about one :-)

I have a black and white umbrella. It is very old and dirty looking...LOL. I do not use it. I hate using them, but if I did not have a car and had to walk everywhere, then that would be a different story. I am over the rain. So sick of it. Ironically, it started raining here a little over three weeks ago just after I purchased a rain water tank! The tank gets here today and I have not been able to prepare the area for it to go in as it has rained every single day without fail for over 3 weeks. Our city's dam is overflowing now, so we do not need anymore rain, but it is predicted to keep raining every day through March as well. I also have a trip planned for Charleville at Easter time and that whole region is under water right now. I cannot believe the size of the flooding area out there. They say that it is the same size area as Victoria that is currently under water!

I know it's amazing- from one extreme to the other isn't it?

Yeah, I cannot believe that I was complaining about the lack of a wet season in January! It is a crazy country this one and is always one extreme or the other. We just had two days without any rain which was awesome! Raining again now though...LOL

Mine has purple stripes and is as big as a garden umbrella. When I walk on the street people automatically just walk right under it. I make a lot of friends that way.

My umbrella is bright pink with a black handle. I was really impressed with it because it was my favourite colour and really cheap for a brolly. However as I later found out, cheap is not always the best option. I went out in the rain with it, one wisp of wind hit it, bent it and turned it inside out!

It´s been raining here pretty much since Christmas, with just a few days of either snow or bright skies to break the monotony. However, I hate umbrellas passionately and refuse to use them. I´d rather wear a hat than have to worry about carrying something which catches on the wind and on things as you pass. All the old ladies around here carry umbrellas whatever the weather. I think they´re a fashion accessory but they come in very handy for warding off over enthusiastic dogs.

L.O.L. Thinking of the umbrella I used it yesterday and it is a wal mart umbrella and when I was walking to the car when leaving my job the wind blew it almost to pieces!!! L.O.L.

I have a lovely black lace umbrella, usually used as a parasol in the summer rather than to keep the rain off me.

Like you I have a plain black umbrella with a rubberised handle that is very comfortable to hold. But it is not good in hight winds. I am always afraid that I will lose it or float away with it as if I'm on a parachute.. No... I would let it go first! _Derek

My umbrella is tan with an wooden handle, and actually rather dusty.. Even when it rains I normally do not use one.. But I guess if I was living in an area where there is consist rain I would probably use it more often..

theres no rain here in my country yet due to its already summer here, but i wish it will rain here even once coz its very hot here already. anyway, i always have umbrella in my bag whether its rainy days nor summer day as i can use it for both. my umbrella is 4 folds so i can put it inside my bag coz if i will just going to carry it by hands then expect me that when i got off from buss nor taxi i already forget it. i only want a single color to my umbrella that can be partner with any kind of colors based on what i wear and so i go with black or blue.

I had a maroon one but it's broken so now I have this yellow and white umbrella which has a name of some insurance company. I just got it from my mom since nobody is using it. The weather is very hot here that is why I really need an umbrella no matter what it looks like.

Pfft, umbrella? raining so heavy up here (Ballina/Byron Bay) that we don't worry about umbrellas. Did have a blue and white one I really liked (Go, Bulldogs) but even it turned inside out against heavy rain. An ark would be of more use than an umbrella about now.

When I lived in an area where it rained a lot and I had to wear "corporate clothes" I acquire quite a little collection of umbrellas, so I pretty much have one to go with every outfit. However, now that I'm in the desert, it does not rain that often, and when it does it is sort of fun to just get wet, so I don't get to use them much any more. That is OK! I prefer plain colors with simple handles, nothing ornate, but they should be automatic and fold up small enough to stick in a briefcase.

I hardly ever use it but I have a nice big green one with a wooden handle that a friend bought me. I used to have one of those little telescopic ones for carrying around but it broke & I never got round to replacing it.

Hey coffeeshot! I have a few different umbrellas! Most of the time I use the black folding one or the navy blue folding one depending on what I'm wearing since I'm the matching type!lol I have one very special umbrella that isn't the folding type! It has kittys all over it! I love that one the best! It is one of those big old regular umbrellas! I only use it once in awhile if I don't have to lug it around too much! If I am going out shopping or something I tend to stick with those folding ones for easy use! But, my kitty umbrella will always be my favorite!

I have a few umbrellas, as a few times the rain has surprised me and I have had to buy an umbrella in the way. All of my umbrellas are the common transparent ones. They're pretty useful because you can actually see what's in front of you on those days of horizontal rain, unlike with colored umbrellas.

I don't have one. That might sound a bit weird, as everyone that's been to Norway knows that it very often rains or snows here, but as we usually get pretty strong winds at the same time an umbreall doesn't make things much better really. Rain jacket, oil skin jacket, all weather jackets, possibly also water proof trousers and most definitly water proof shoes.
