That is what Obama and Pelosi have been resorting to to try to get the health reform bill, as it stands, passed.
Even though the majority of Americans are saying they do not want the current health reform bill passed; Obama and Pelosi are trying to get politicians to disregard their constituents wishes.
They are bribing politicians with jobs for close relatives and by making investigations "go away" for those who indicate they are willing to support Obama and Pelosi's goals.
They are threatening those who are standing up to them by bringing about investigations for things so minor they are ridiculous.
Specifics about their actions can be found in this article - http://www.arcamax.com/politics/s-708387-241512

No, it's not the way I want my country run, but it sure seems to be the way things are getting done. Isn't this how they run Chicago? I'm wondering who really was behind the Massa resignation. I believe it was the Democratic party who swept up or created the dirt to force him to resign, because he's one of those who was opposed to Obama-care. I'll bet you his replacement is someone who supports Obama-care. You may see a few more Democrats who oppose Obama-care go down before this is all over.

"Isn't this how they run Chicago?" - Exactly! And, if this is the way he does things, it won't be long before family members, friends, and the people who oppose him start "going missing" or "having accidents".
Obama learned politics in Chicago and it shows.

Massa has said that he is perhaps going to rescind his resignation.

I think it is time to take our country back, if we can.

Actually, it is past time to take our country back. The problem is the people we have been placing in charge over the last couple of decades have been doing everything they can to make that mroe difficult. The people who promise to try to change things have been lying and turning their back on the voters who put them there as soon as they get into office.

Most politicians are fairly safe unless Obama can guarantee the person who takes their seat will support him. However, friends and family could start "having accidents".

Sounds like Politics as usual in washington. Which is not a good thing. The democrats ran on "draining the swamp of corruption" in washington.Instead they are becoming the "swamp of corruption".
No it is no way to run this country. Remember this when it comes time to vote. The crooks on both sides have to go.

Obama ran on a platform of "Change" - the only thing that changed was the names of the people in charge and no one said that change always makes things better - sometimes it is just change for the sake of change and that can make things much worse than they were before.
