I have been using the internet since 1997. I believe WWW stands for "World Wide Web". That is good, I don't think many people know what it stands for or have ever really even thought about it for that matter. This will be interesting to see how many knew. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Hi Maya, is great to see you here. Indeed someone thought on asking about this acronym. It surprised me to know it would have been an unknown to some, but yes it does have to be with a network communications through the world. I did not know at one point this same net is supported in sections through the world, almost like our continents? So actually somethings which are available and reachable at some ports of the world at not available to others, at least directly.

I would actually be quite surprised if there were a lot of people that didn't know what WWW is an acronym for. I've known this since the time that I first started using the internet and that was actually fourteen years ago. It stands for "world wide web." It is named this because of the fact that there are people all over the world that provide content for the internet and also because it is accessible to a lot of people throughout the world.

The three letters "www" that prefix all website urls is simply an abbreviation of "World Wide Web" It's quite an obvious one when you think about it. Now, as for http, I haven't a clue what that stands for, and it's just as common as "www".

I have not read any response to your discussion because I want to say the honest truth: I never knew what that meant. It's funny but sometimes we just don't question the meaning of certain things, we just get used to it. I always thought one of the ws means web ... world wide web? well here we go I guess I read it somewhere and right now it came back to my mind, it means something like a Giant Web, like international web, because we are all connected everywhere in the world through this internet. Take care.

Oh! dats elementary my dear Watson, World Wide Web. But the complication is it's meaning and thats what it is all about a web. In hebrew W stands for 6, yup you heard it right 6 and www means 666 and I am sure you must have heard all the stories about 666 and it's patron the Satan.

Hi sirill The word WWW stands for World Wide Web, A major service on the Internet. To understand exactly how the Web relates to the Internet, see Web vs. Internet. The World Wide Web is made up of "Web servers" that store and disseminate "Web pages," which are "rich" documents that contain text, graphics, animations and videos to anyone with an Internet connection.
