Do you agree with this statement? These comments are not mine. I don't subscirbe to this view. Before making up your mind please read these comments made by a football coach about homosexuals. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1257513/Fury-German-football-boss-says-Theres-place-football-gays.html#ixzz0i4jQGQOi A former football manager has provoked outrage by saying there is ‘no place' for gay players in football. Rudi Assauer, who was boss of Schalke in Germany, said: ‘Perhaps they are OK in other sports but not in football. ‘If a player came to me and said he was gay I would say to him: “You have shown courage.” But then I would tell him to find something else to do. ‘That's because those who out themselves always end up busted by it, ridiculed by their fellow players and by people in the stands. We should spare them these witch-hunts.’ Why can't football stand against racism? Why can't football accept diversity? In the article it is further reported that that Fashanu an openly gay player committed suicide. The only openly gay footballer to date in Britain was Justin Fashanu, who suffered hostility from fans when he came out in 1990. Eight years later he committed suicide Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1257513/Fury-German-football-boss-says-Theres-place-football-gays.html#ixzz0i4k3DDzA Do you agree with his statements? Should gays stay out of football? Do you agree there's no place in football for gays?

This in no way is meant to hurt the feelings of anyone who may or not be homosexuals, however I really dont think there is a place in football for those homosexuals who are more feminine acting, otherwise anyone can play football and some of these may be bigger and meaner than those who are not homosexuals.

Hi pastorkayte, not all homosexuals appear feminine. Some are muscular and athletic and it won't come into your mind that they might be gay. Thanks for your reply.

I know that, that is exactly what I meant. I believe if they are feminine that they should not play football, however I did think that some are bigger and meaner than some of the heterosexual men and should play if they want to.

I feel for these people really I do. I am not pro homosexual rather I am against it. About the discussion, I don't see why (if a person thought they were gay) a person would even have to bring it into their work evironment, the two have nothing to do with each other. If you are a confused person keep it to yourself then you wouldn't have to suffer the harassment.Next talk to God. On a lighter note- Besides isn't football in UK American soccer? I figured all those guys were sweet LOL

I am not in an LGBT pro group. But I do respect everybody because even these people have dignity and we have to respect them. In Europe we use football when we mean soccer too. American football is another type of sport similar to rugby right?

I guess, there's no place for gays everywhere in the world, not just in football!! Remember, the incident of MIss world USA or wherever, she says something about gays, which she believes is right, and that causes her to lose their MIss USA title!! I guess think majority of the ple are too narrow minded!! When woman can become a 'lesbian', and thus why man cant be a gay?? Lesbian can be accepted readily but why not man??

do agree kun that it is not only the football world that is hostile to such people. I do hope that people become more receptive to accept diversity.

Given that attitude, I think it would take a tremendous amount of courage for a gay player to 'come out'. but in principal I don't agree with him at all. If somebody's a good player, his sexuality shouldn't matter any more than his religion or skin color.

I do believe that it does takea lot of courage to stand out and be counted in a tough world like sports. It's not easy to declare that you are homosexual in football. You might be the target by rival supporters and be taunted throughout the match.

you know what blows my mind and makes me laugh (even though the subject enrages me!) is that who knows how MANY already are play that ARE GAY! half his team could be gay and him not realize it. heck how many people that are gay dont try being straight the first half or part of their life and do it successfully?? (as far as how others see it) so to me with sports or army etc saying things like that is so stupid because i know if i was on his team and was gay i would prob first be pissed but then be laughing at him for not realizing im right in front of him!! stupid stupid ignorant people!

HI moonlitmagikchild, I think ignorance makes us afraid of others. I do share your views. There are many gays in football who are afraid to come out in public for the only fear of being labelled and ridiculed. HOnestly I don't blame them. Justin Fashanu has been disowned by his own brother (another famous footballer in the Premier league).

How could anyone have that kind of viewpoint. I mean what difference does a person's private life have to do with sports? Or if someone should play a sport or anything like that? I think that is a horrible statement and the man who said it should be repremanded

He is an ex coach but I am sure that his views will find a great deal of opposition in the world of soccer.

There are gay athletes in every sport. If you are talking the sport us Yanks call soccer , I think a gay athlete can and should be able to play. Why not? The homophobic player doesn't Have to have any contact. It isn't like our football where there is full contact. But I do believe there are gays in the NFL too. But the homophobic Should worry. I feel sorry for these people.

Hi, ronaldinu! I can't imagine why a person's very private life is anybody's business than his own. A good player is a good player. What goes on off the field has nothing to do with it.

I think that is some of the most racist, most prejudice crap I have ever heard and I can not believe someone like you would read that stuff,I think that gays should be able to do the same things as non gays, and that is about like saying blacks can not play football either which is just as wrong, and as long as gay people can follow the rules and do not hit on the other football players then they should be allowed in football no matter what anyone says, and I do not mind gay people as long as they give me my space, and people trying to keep gay people out of football is like asking for a lawsuit.

I don't agree with this statement. I'm sorry but homsexuality has been around in sports for a long time. Just because a person isn't comfortable with it doesn't make it so. I don't understand why people can't be people in whatever profession they choose. It just seems wrong to me to put a lable on any one thing just because any one person has some kind of image of it. No, I don't agree. At all.

I don't agree at all with that statement. Everyone who is considered "different" -homosexuality is a very common thing, but some people still insist in consider it like a weird disease-, are always prosecuted by people who consider themselves "normal". That doesn't mean that you can't play a sport you're good at just because people will bully you. If it's what you like, you won't mind them, so homosexuals have all the rights to play football or any other sport

Football skills do not have to do anything with being a heterosexual or homosexual. Whatever orienation you've got everybody has a right to play football.

hahhaha Ignorance can be so funny at times, poor stupid coach, how can people still make such statements, gays do play sports and so football on daily basis without people even knowing it and most of the times they are also very good. It is pretty much like the really stupid debate opened in the US about gays in the army...do they really believe that there have never been gays in the army and there aren't even today?? I don't think so I personally have a gay friend who was a marine. Gays are good people I like them and have also many friends who are gay, the private life doesn't make a person different, and I still can't believe that can be a cause of discrimination in 2010.
