Friends, as i have said, i am now in my elder sons home, in the guest room my grand daughters 11 yrs and 6 yrs young sleep with us, i mean me and my wife. last night at 11pm the younger one , shouted, dadaji (means pateral grand father). see there are aliens coming here in Flying saucer. we too rushed with her to the balcony and saw some light on the western sky, it was moving from right to left and back, had it been an aereplane, it will go in one direction
Just then i remembered, there was a five storey building under construction and cranes were engaged, because the work was non stop 24 hours, these flying saucers were nothing but the lights on the top of the cranes
Well these girls were watching the movie 'Koi mil gaya',till late night, it was saturday, this has a story of an alien coming to earth in a flysing saucer, this concept was deep in their mind
Next i had to tell the truth and they were convinced, in my opinion we must keep kids well informed
What is your view, any such experiece?

Yes, I agree that kids need to be kept well-informed of truth as it appears and not as their young minds imagine it to be so as a result of watching TV late into the night. When I was a kid, I can remember that my friends and I could talk ourselves into some incredible beliefs. We didn't watch to much TV in those days as here in the UK it was never broadcasting during the days and then just from around 6pm until 11pm each night.

Hi bhuwanji
It is common with the kids of that age. They will watch the movies or anyother horror related scenes in the night and deeply involving in that scenes and thinking about it,go to bed. Some will get all those things in their dreams and some children, even if they see any shadow moving in the light breeze think that the ghost came and start yelling and screaming with fear. You made the right thing by explaining to her and make her understand. I came across many such occasions.

If regarding aliens, I would tell kids, and it doesn't have to be my kids, but any kids will do.. that aliens are from another dimension, and although there are no proofs, I'm sure they are there somewhere. It's only through knowledge from books that we are perhaps able to read about sightings of UFO and stuff like that. It might be true, and it might be not for some... I'm keeping the options open for them, as long as they are well-informed and not misguided in their knowledge.

dear professor,
the movies has so much power to instill in the minds of little children. little girls get frightened really very fast so it was so nice that you were there to explain.
it was good that dadaji was there to explain to the little girl what she really saw or she will be thinking differently.
i believe you did the right thing.
cheers,
ann

I was watching a documentary a couple of weeks ago.It was about the Great Pyramids in Egypt and the worlds most greatest wonders. There has been numerous reports of UFOS and strange lights like the ones the little girls described. But Whos Knows it could have been alot of different things?

I feel we should keep the kids informed about what is what and should not allow them to be ignorant. We should allow them to watch the informative programme in the tv and read knowledgeable books. I never had any such experience with the kids.

Yes we have to tell the truth all the time. It would not be healthy for kids to believe things that do not really exist just because they saw that in movies or TV. We can always explain them the truth so they will be wise and will not be deceived by fantasy or fictitious matters.

I think it's always better that we adults are honest and straight forward with kids so long as their young little minds are able to absorb and understand what we are saying. I personally do not like raising kids to make-believe in lies such as the existence of Santa Claus and alien stuff like that. I have to tell them in a gentle, kiddish way and tone of voice though about these things that only exist on TV. I hate to disappoint my kid but if they get disappointed later on about these things, now that would probably hurt more.

yes, sometimes thought the child was not able to distinguish between fiction and true stories, especially if they follow the mindset of a film, it's harder for us to explain differences in fiction and true stories .... however, the simplest way to explain them the real story and fiction is also the story approach. Maybe you can tell why there can be no aliens in this world
