Do you feel annoyed when somebody grinds his teeth while sleeping?

Hello my fellow mylotters! Last night, my siblings and I were called by our parents to have a sleepover at their house. Since we only had 3 rooms in my parent's house and we had a house guest, I slept at my brothers' room. My younger brother grinds his teeth while sleeping. I am annoyed by the sound he makes, it's just like a sound of sharpening a knife and its very awful to hear. I also don't want to transfer to my parent's room because my father snores a lot. So I slept on the living room. Is anyone here at mylot is annoyed of teeth grinding sounds? Do you grind your teeth too? I know my brother is not aware since he sleeps soundly, but it was really really that annoying. Happy mylotting!

I know what you mean I have experienced that too and it's true it is also really annoying to me, I don't know if there is a solution, what I do I usually shout to the person that is doing that or simply wake him up telling that he was grinding his teeth and I couldn't sleep, I do the same when someone snores, I cannot sleep because they make noises so what's wrong to wake them up?? . You should tell your brother and tell your parents, if he does so, for what I know there is something wrong, nothing serious but at least you can try to solve it. Good Luck!

Hi freeboy90! I already told my brother about his unusual habit, but he says he is unaware of it when he sleeps. I know it not really a big deal but it will be embarrassing if he sleeps with others. Have a nice day!

Hi,sachii.I once experienced this thing.Because I live with my classmates .Sometimes I just can hear my roommates grinded their teeths in the midnight.I guess maybe the same thing happend to me .I don't think is annoying, but I just feel scary.Because I am so timid.I even dare not open my eyes in the dark ,cause I am afraid I would see some strange things.

My younger brother does this! I remember hearing him do it as a kid! He still does! I don't know how his wife has put up with his teeth grinding all this years! A few years a go my brother started to wear a mouth guard at night. He's has worn out more then one since then! That is how bad his grinding has come! I'm surprised he hasn't worn his teeth down to nothing!

One of my family members used to grind his teeth too, but luckily he managed to get rid of this. It's really disturbing to hear somebody doing that. I know that people are not aware of that, because they're sleeping, but it's still very annoying. I can stand many unpleasant sounds, but that one is a kind of exception.

I need absolute silence to sleep, so grinding and snoring bother me a lot, as I can't sleep. I have had to hear both kinds of sounds in my family, and I don't know how to make them stop, so I'm glad now I can avoid that when I sleep, as I live by myself And as far as I know, I don't snore neither I grind my teeth

hi there... ye I am very much annoyed... hehehe... my dad used to grind his teeth too while sleeping, i can hear it outside. my mom is waking him up and tells him it causes pain to the ears. i don't grind my teeth. but one more person does it too. hmm, my boyfriend! heheheh... like my mom, i wake him up too and tells him that he grinds his teeth, he said he doesn't know that he is doing it. well he is sleeping. so he's unconscious, and helps himself back to sleep again and still doing it.

I hate this as well. My boyfriend grinds his teeth often and I just cannot stand it. So I always slap him a bit or push him so that he would stop. The sound is just too annoying so I have to do that so that he will stop.

ohhhhhhh YEAH that can really makes me go crazy, because maybe this is the sound that i hate the most, even more than the munching while people are eating! once i have a friend of mine, who did this every time he slept well, i haven't seen him from a long time, but guess he still do it :) once when i'va stayed at his place, wow how terrible it was, to listen to it whole night long, being unable to sleep :)

My younger brother grinds his teeth too while sleeping. I don't find it annoying but rather funny. Not unless of course it produces a loud sound which hinders me from sleeping, I would love to cover my brother's mouth with anything that would stop him grinding his teeth. LOL. Good thing he does not do it now but instead he murmurs in sleep.

I rarely sleep with anyone, but when I have and he/she grinds her teeth, I stay awake. But I've been told I grind my teeth (by the dentist) and I've been told I snore (by lots of people). So my reply "don't sleep with me".

My fiancee grinds his teeth and snores! I don't know which one is worse. He becomes defensive about the snoring when I bring it up, saying he doesn't snore but just breathes loudly in his sleep. Sure, that's it... I told him that he should go to the dentist for the teeth grinding since it can lead to problems including weak teeth, jaw dislocation, and headaches. The mouth guard prescribed costs too much money and is not covered by insurance so I am stuck with the noise. My solution to this and the snoring: ear plugs!
