What are you NOT willing to accept in art?

I know that in Art, there is no such thing as "no such thing"... but sometimes, I believe art should have some limits. I am not willing to see art that offend people, even if it's telling of a truth. Also, Art should be telling of one's perspective, but not at the cost of breaking other's dignity/boundaries. Art is a beautiful thing... lets keep it that way.

Some years ago an artist from my country killed some puppies and used them in his art. I think that was horrible thing to do, and I don't find that kind of behaviour acceptable. He probably did it because he wanted to provoke people, and of course he got lots of attention. I am an artist my myself and I love to experiment and create something unusual, but I would never kill an animal and use it in my art that is for sure. Some artists love to provoke people, for instance the man who used his own feces in his art. I don't remember his name, but I read about him a while ago.

I feel that artists should constantly push boundaries weather that be the artists boundaries or the viewers. From the artist point of view it should push people into reflecting upon themselves. I feel that my art is all fleeting images of thought. I must capture that thought at all costs. I know not what the image is going to be until it is finished. Then I realize that the image tells a very deep story about your soul. There are no boundaries in art. There never should be. as far as the ladder thing goes, I fully agree with you, but it can be art if taken as a photo, depending on weather the photo is done well or not. splatter painting is another one that I just don't consider to be art... It's just paint thrown at a canvas...anyone can do it. sure someone might be able to show anger in their splatter a little better, but there really is no skill involved.

I agree that art is art is art to the human eye just like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But I also agree that there should be some boundries because sometimes I see art that is just so not art. I dont care how much of a genius you think you are, putting a ladder up and saying its art, does not make it art. Im not sure what constitutes something as art but I know a ladder isnt.
