From a discussion with my friends, I learned that there are scamsters targeted at elderly people during the this worst economy time. They would pretend to be grandchildren of those elderly individuals, and wrote a letter, or call their houses, saying their grandchildren was in trouble, like they broke the law, and detained in jail or something like that. They would like those grandparents to bail them out with money. Some scamsters even pretend to be police officers and call the elderly that they should pay that certain amount of money in order to get them released. This type of scams really despicable in my opinion. Although the amount usually about $1000 to $3000, that was really wrong to take away money from elderly like that.

Unfortunately scammers do usually tend to target people that are easy to rip off. It's unfortunate that they would make the elderly think that their grandchildren were in trouble and take up to 3000 dollars from them! One thousand to three thousand dollars is quite a bit of money, and I hope that those scammers get theirs some day.

I can't believe that people would go that low. I mean any one that tries to scam any one else is bad but to go after the elderly is about the lowest of the low! So many elderly people are on a fixed income anyway and can barely make it as it is. And many of them are way too trusting, bless their hearts. These people will get back what they give, every thing we do comes back to us. I wish there was some way to warn all of them to not fall for this, I just feel so badly for them.

hie kingparker, this is the first time i heard about this scam. the world is full of conman and these people are dangerous. pray and hope that no elderly and oldies plus the young ones from all ages do not fall for this scam. pray that all of us have the presence of mind to think right and logical in situations like this. let us have the patience and sound mind to phone our children, relatives, friends etc for confirmation before taking the next step. God be with us and He is with us and He shows us mercy and grace. He sees us from heaven and holds our hands to guide us away from unwanted elements. thanks and have a good day and be blessed.
