I am in love with the guy so I may be too close to Really notice. So do you think Ovie is a dirty player? Thanks for your help.

There was a time I would have agreed with bounce on this completely..but that was a few ugly hits ago. Now I think he is trading on his exuberant style of play to keep him out of the box..he is a guy that plays hard and all out. that's something that is accepted as fact, so he gets away with a little more than a guy like bert or pronger that have been open about how low they will go. I would be more inclined to agree that he didn't mean to hurt someone..if he didn't keep doing it.

Ok. Thanks. Well if loving him is wrong I don't want to be right! If he is a goon, then I'm soo happy he is My Goon.

I'm not ready to call him a goon in the true sense of the word..I do think that he needs to think more about his team than himself..when you take another player out for the length of time Campbell is, on a boarding hit, one might begin to think he doesn't respect the game the way great players have. I also think he is too good of a player to end up being remembered more for the guys he hurt than the plays he made. As for loving him..most of us girls have a soft spot for the bad boys!

I don't really think that he is a dirty player. I just think that he plays with an edge, and that's what makes him a great player. Sometimes this edge though is blurred by misjudgements and miscalculations. I'm sure that when he hit Campbell he did not intend to hurt the guy. He was just finishing his check. It's too bad that he got suspended for this. I just hope he doesn't change the way he plays.

Thanks Bounce. That's how I saw it but wasn't sure if it was my eyes or my heart.

They're all pretty much dirty, edgy, gritty, competitive. However you want to label them. It's all the same.

well i don't know if i would call him a dirty player, but he does seem to go out of his way to make hits at times and i did not see the hit on Brian Campbell that got him suspended. Campbell is supposed to be out for 7 or 8 weeks so it must have been a pretty vicious hit to put him out for that length of time. I would say he may be a dirty player may not be, but he certainly is an overly aggressive player at times and may go a little out of his way trying to put a big hit on someone. I think he should tone down that part of his game more and focus on what he does best, which is put the puck in the net as i have seen him at times take some really foolish penalties trying to knock someone's block off and now this last one got him suspended.

Thanks. I saw the hit and it wasn't vicious but It was a major penalty. Ovie definitely boarded Campbell . But did he intend to hurt him? I don't think so.I do agree with the suspension.

All the hockey analysts are calling him careless. He was overly aggressive on that play on Campbell. It was bad but not as bad as when he sticks out his knee at a player. He's done that a few times. (Slightly off-topic, but I have to get this off my chest, Monday's telecast between the Red Wings and Penguins, Emerick mentions that Orpik hits cleanly - tell that to Erik Cole. You have to take broadcasters comments with a grain of salt these days. It's not gospel. Sorry, had to say it.)

Careless. That fits! Thanks!I didn't think he was a dirty player. and you weren't off topic. Sometimes the best way to see a game is with the sound off.
