Not nessecarily respond to a discussion, although thats appreciated. But I mean commenting on a resoponse someone made on your sidcussion. I love it when I see the person who started the dicssuion responding to what people say to them.

That's what makes a discussion turn into a disussion and there are many of us that like to see that too. There is nothing worse than taking time to respond on a discussion and then receiving no acknowledgement at all from the user that started it. It's fun too when others land and comment on a response and a discussion starts up inside the box itself. Some of us prefer doing that rather than leaving their own response or dropping in on a friend when we are reading other responses and we see someone we know. That's what myLot tell us that we earn for doing too, for furthering the topic and adding more comments.

A discussion is NOT a discussion UNTIL 2 or MORE people share their ideas!!! Whether they agree or disagree, it does NOT matter....The exchange of ideas is EXCITING!!! I try & wait until the owner of the discussion leaves a comment before I comment to a response. However, sometimes I just can't wait!!!

That last bit sounds oh sooooo familiar. I commented on a response earlier today because the user who started the discussion was not around and there was a response by a user who said they had been away but had decided to return and get busy again. I commented, welcoming them back and and a bit of chit chat. Much later the OP arrived and told me it was HIS post! I can understand that many think that a discussion is 'theirs' but if they feel so strongly they should not go away and leave the doors open and their guests unattended. You never know who might drop in

I completely agree with both of you (that a discussion is not a discussion here unless people comment back and at least 2 people respond). I cant always wait either but its betyter when you do. Happy mylotting. :)

Short comments are against the Guidelines, so longer comments are preferred!!! Sometimes a short comment is ALL that is needed. However, I find it difficult to speak short so I tend to go on & on & on!!!

A discussion is not effective if there is no interaction in it. We need two way traffic to make a discussion a real discussion.

Two way traffic is a start but then if it also comes from the left, the right and from the back and the front it is even better. The more the merrier!

Agree. Better still on a round table with coffee and all. I enjoy having more people participating in a discussion.

I NEVER start a discussion if I don't have time to comment on the responses!!! A lot of the time I comment to the respondent's comment & keep a dialog going. I find the banter to be exciting!!!

it means that the discussion starter appreciated the comment on the topic that was written. it is really called a true discussion, because the discussion is never stopped in just posting the answer.

The Most fun is had when a discussion's comments are in competition with the responses themselves!

Absolutely! The more comments that further the topic then the more we get to know each other and the more fun we have. Then we meet up again elsewhere on another discussion and it all starts all over again!

Well that's what makes a discussion, responding, commenting, commenting more and more. We'd have a lot more comments if everyone read the TOS which says to read the whole discussion before responding or commenting. Of course my response is evidence that I only read a little bit!

I just happened to spot this again and I can't help wondering what happened after it was posted. It looked like we had a new user who was going to be busy discussing but sadly that is not the case at all

Personally, whether someone comments on one of my discussions or not, it's all the same to me. I've put my opinion about various things out there in cyberspace, and that's what matters as far as I'm concerned. I do respond to people who respond to my posted discussions, though.
