These days, the thermometer is hitting record highs in the Philippines. Some people have already died due to heat stroke. Left and right, many people are also suffering the brunt of the unusual weather -- strokes and other forms of diseases abound. How about you, how do you cope with a hot weather?

When in super hot days, i opened all windows to let air come in. Electric ventilators are helpful when small children go to sleep or when they are in the room. And i make cold snacks like halo-halo, milkshakes, ice cream, ice candy, and refrigerated fruits. It is also very important to keep ourselves hydrated - that means drinking LOTS of water. I also make sure not to prepare warm meals. Often i serve noodles, boiled sweet potatoes and foods alike. And the last but not the least, shower or take a bath! This helps the body temp normal.

That is really bad. The weather here is a bit hasrsh as well and winter is on the way, supposedly. But we try to relax as much as possible just to try and keep cool. TATA.

thanks for the response, saphrina. that's one good way of battling, even easing the heat. when everything else is hot, be cool and think cool... i think, that helps...

summer and the hit that comes with it is not so a problem in here. we can always go to the beach and cool up. but of course, we cannot do it always as we also have works to do, office to attain to. electric fans, air condition could also lessen the hit or at least, lower the temperature of the room.

do you never get chilly weather there? i know even here in arizona, usa, its been chilly, even quite cold last winter. very unusual for az. we just turn down our air conditioner when it gets in the triple digits, which it does every summer here and pay the price by doing without other things

My weather is no where near as extreme as yours but it does get pretty hot here. The humidity makes it a very uncomfortable sticky kind of hot that you can hardly breathe in. I usually just dress lightly, lots of sunscreen, and as much water as possible. When it is almost unbearable, I'll jump in the shower and cool off. I also wait until the sun starts to set before I do anything really active outside like yard work and such. Take care and try to stay cool.

I think you take a bath 4x a day. Treat yourself some ice cream. Stroll on the malls so you can avoid the heat of the afternoon. Take a sauna bath to make some massage.

Hi Bystander! Your post was made two months ago, so around March. And yet, nothing has changed. The heat has even become more excruciating and exhausting. I find myself drained especially in the afternoon. Actually our water dispenser broke down. It couldn't cope up with the demand of cold refreshing water that we needed. So we resorted to stock water bottles in our refrigerator. And they are gone fast, especially for my dad. He is having a difficult time this summer. The weather is very unusual. And despite that in the last two or three weeks we had some rainfalls. It didn't cool down the heat much. I said to my family, especially my dad to take a bath as much as he can. So he won't be experiencing a heat stroke. It is very and much more difficult for the elderly. And for myself, I cope with the heat by taking a shower in the morning. Another one in the afternoon. And another one before I go to bed. I can't sleep without taking a shower or a bath. I have to cool down before I can sleep. (^^,)

You mean the rainfalls we experienced last two to three weeks, were only artificially-induced rains? I thought they said it didn't work because they couldn't seed any clouds? (^^,)

indeed, aphroditei, it's even getting worse. what with the artificially-induced rains, it is only making a greater imbalance on the atmosphere. well, let's hope that things will get better soon...

'Tis a month after but it is even hotter, ain't it? Am staying away from the sun, unlike KC Concepcion. Water my plants early in the morning or late at night. But they just turn brown and dried. Drink more liquid. Only way to break the heat.
