This morning my mother-in-law called up and said, "my water broke." Now here we are wondering how on earth it totally escaped us that my 74 year old MIL was pregnant.
Ok it turned out a pipe broke, to the tune of $900, which she doesn't have, so we are covering her, but for a second there I thought maybe I was going to have a new brother or sister-in-law.
Isn't language fun?

Language is fun. Expressions within a language are even more fun. Bailing MIL out for plumbing--priceless. Is this one more tie that binds you to the son? I hope there are not complications and I am surely glad that you guys could help her out. I hope when I am 74 my kids are able to help me, if I need it.

I think I actually meant the financial bail out, not the feelings.

Did she have a good laugh when you explained the implications?
74 year old - well, I am still 73 for a few months, so does that mean there is still hope for me? Ohhhhhh! Spoil sport!

I'm pretty sure it's not just A pipe. Something about the acidity in the water and having to replace some copper pipes with pvc and I don't know what all.

A lot weird. I can see the newscast now, "widow, celibate over 5 years, has baby". Or perhaps, "the next savior born in Grass Valley, widow baffled, says she heard voices"...

Still, $900 for a pipe is a bit steep!
