Almost two hours i sit and wait .....maybe, maybe an good idea for a new discussion will come in my mind. Nothing there, my brain is blocked...nothing interesting there ,is not an idea about something interesting here. If you're old member you are jealous to new members, which easily find topics of discussion without fear that they will repeat?

hi icesmile oh I am not jealous of the newcomers as theres room for us all here, and jealousy means you are short of any self esteem for yourself. I do not have a lot of trouble finding things to make discussions of as I have lived long enough to have all sorts of experiences and also have a lot of the same problems as my younger fellow mylotters. Icesmile you do come up with interesting discussions so do not sell yourself short here. For instance what you are feeling now is Iwould bet an experience we all have had at one time or another. Its like your sense of creativity is stopped for some reason, like writer's block, so to break that block I would just write something, anything on that blank sheet of paper. Soon I would start thinking of something more interesting to write. It sort of primed my writer's pump so to speak. maybe it does the same thing in making discussions too. Too we are usually our own worst critics, we discount ideas that others would say are great. anyway good luck. God bless.

Come on Hatley, i am not "short" is just a joke, is a way of saying "jealous ".... it is like a conversation just for fun, not about our moral values ... But you right, my creativity just stop in this evening, nothing more...and i just want to relax.. my mind.

Hi Hatley! I was trying to explain this to icesmile too! Just because we have been here longer doesn't mean we are jealous and have run out of topics to post! This happens to all of us at some time or another no matter how long we have been here!

Hey icesmile! I am an older member and I can speak for most of the other older members and tell you that we are in no way jealous of the newbies here! We are experienced and can always find topics that are new, exciting and interesting! We don't have to use old and repeated discussions! I think that you owe the senior members here an apology! Why would you think that just because we have been here longer that we would run out of topics? I'm kind of surprised at you icesmile!

I don't have a problem with thinking up discussion topics...I have hundreds of them. My only problem is choosing which one to start. As for being a newbie, I'm happy that I've been here for 3 years...ppl know me, they know the type of person I am and what kinds of discussions I tend to start. When I was a newbie, I felt left out and was kind of floundering around. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Actually, after I have not been to mylot for a few days, I realised that there are actually a lot of new discussions coming up and I can easily response to them to increase my post counts. I think you just need to explore more interests to response to instead of staying with only a few. That way, by the time you are done with one interest, the other interest may be flooded with a lot of new discussions. Then you would have endless responses to do.

Nothing to be jealous about icesmile. It might be an advantage to them, but considering that you have aged (in this site) and knows the way around it -- plus the incredibly enviable number beside your username -- I believe all is even. =)

I guess in this matter there is nothing to be jealous about. Take me for an example; I have been on myLot for more than 2 years now and I have only started less than 10 discussions because fresh ideas for discussions don't come that often to me. While I do feel a little dejected, but I compensate for it by responding to discussions instead. I feel that responding to discussions can be as good as starting discussions, because responding to discussions can also be thought-provoking and new ideas might spark out from nothing. Anyway, if you look at it from another perspective, maybe new members are jealous of you instead. Maybe they are jealous of your experience here on the site, or maybe they are jealous of your post number or your myLot reputation. I myself still envy those members that have already posted tens of thousands of posts, while I am only one portion of where they are at. But that becomes a motivation for me to become more active and be where they are. In conclusion, just let the ideas come as they come. Forcing yourself to think of ideas to start discussions can only end in frustration. So let nature take its course and have fun in the meantime..... Have a great day!

You are so right, as lately, it has been hard to find good discussions to respond to. I just keep going from one interest to another to find discussions that I can respond to. I don't really start all that many of my own discussions, as I prefer to respond, and it gets so frustrating when I can't find any discussions interesting enough that I can respond to. Really, thought the only time I ever find anything to respond to is the ones that are posted while I am sleeping. It seems when I wake up in the morning there are plenty of them to respond to for awhile. When I don't find anymore I want to respond to, then I just quit for the night, and wait until the next day when I do it all over again. You are right though, that when the newbies come in here, all the discussions are new to them as they are just getting started. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

hello ice, guess everyone would say they are not jealous at all. there are just times when no matter how much we want to make a discussion, nothing seems to be formed in the mind. maybe you are overdoing? go and relax a bit. take deep breaths. i hope that would help. have a great day. ann

Hi icesmile, it's fair many of us don't get to start with any thing interesting to say, i have not started a discussion for days, i rarely do get ideas of my own, new comers, i am not jealous of them, but sometimes they do start discussions that alread y have been started by some older lotter, some discussions are bound to be repeated, and some of the new comers also start discussions which are like polls and the ones that violate the rules here, so it's much peaceful with me here, although i am unable to start topics i love to respond to others.

Well thats true.. when i was new, i started discussions repeatedly, without knowing that it was already there and got more responses. Thats true, we may not get interesting to start with.. but sometimes i put down my questions here in mylot to find a solution.
