Welcome to mylot Here in india there is provision for maternity leave for women employee only in government jobs, not for men,, but i think they should be given 10days leave when the wife is admitted in a hospital for child birth.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

I agree! Don't have any children yet but I def want my husband to be there with me b/c I sure wouldn't be getting into it alone! Plus it gives the chance for the new family to get to know each other! Plus babies stay up all night when their new borns so the thought of my husband having to wake up early to go to work and not being used to the new baby doesn't sound good. Mothers barely get sleep but at least they stay home with the baby and the dad not rest at all? That's kind of sad! Everyone needs rest once a baby is born. My husband also has leave from his job so no worries for us when we decide to have kids.

My brother-in-law is granted paternity leave by his company and I think he really likes the time off to be with his new child (#3 is on the way). My sister appreciates the help and it gives them both time to bond with the child (and take care of the other two). I'm all for paternity leave.
