Ever wonder what would happen if one day we woke up and found that we could no longer use our cell phone, computers and electricity? What would become of us? How many of you actually know how to make fire? How to hunt? How to survive? Sure, we've watch Survivorman and Man vs. Wild but can you actually implement the things we see into our everyday life?

I believe that most people and companies in the world have become far too dependent on technology. I go to my local library to borrow books. These days all the their records are held on computer. One time their system went down and they were hopeless without it.
People in my home country can turn on a tap and get water to drink and bathe in. I am very keen on traveling and on an island in Australia I had to walk up a creek to get water. There was only a bush toilet. People in my home country have a toilet that flushes. People have a fridge to keep food like vegetables and fruit cold. I can manage without a fridge but I prefer it when I can drink cool fruit juice.
I know that people like to go to the shops and buy food and clothes. It would be too difficult to look for food in the forest. It would be nuts and wild berries for me because I am vegan. I am not sure what I would feed my dogs on. I have used candle light before but I am not sure how to make fire in the first place.

Humans rely on basic instinct to survive. When humankind is backed into a corner it will not die but it will lash out and strive for life, just like any animal would do. Technology has brought us far in life from radios to tv, to cell phones to the internet, etc. Technology has allowed for longer life and for instantaneous communication and travel. Without this kind of technology humans would enter a state of nature and be fighting for their basic needs and wants. Thus, technology is key to civilization.

My old sailing boat was built in 1850 - no engine; no electricity.
Come sailing with me for a week and you will soon adapt to life without electricity. It is not as difficult as you might think and indeed has many advantages not least of which is hanging around waiting for the various engineers to fix the modern kit when it goes wrong.
While they wait I am sailing! haha

About 10 year ago I lived in a camphill village in Eastern Europe. There were no tv, radio or computers, and there were no radiators, so when it was cold outside we had to use the fireplace. There was a workshop that we didn't use every day and when we got there the house was extremely cold, and the first thing we did was to light a fire in the fireplace. In my home in Denmark there are radiators in every single room and it is extremely easy to turn up the heat if you are cold.
In Denmark it is also extremely easy to turn on the faucet when we want hot water, in the camphill village we had a light fire if we wanted to use hot water and we couldn't just take a shower when we wanted to.
It was definately a different experience to live in that village for a while, but I got used to the situation pretty quickly, and it wasn't that difficult to live with the technology that is a part of my "normal" life.

Yes, I think we rely on technology too much. I think it's sad since technology is so temperamental anyway. Thankfully I really know how to live without it. I make a point to turn off all the electronics from time to time. I spend time reading and walking around with nature. I'm pretty confident that I could forage and cook my own food. I'm not sure about hunting it though. I'm a vegetarian anyway, so I probably wouldn't eat it if I could kill it.

We are overly relaint on technology for the msot part but who can blame us? Techonology gives us teha bility to do things we otherwise wouldnt be able to do. It gives us knowledge we would otherwise be unable to learn and use.
I am the tyype of person who can't live without technology. If I ahd to go through a day without I could last, adn not go crazy, sure. But I prefer to have technology at my fingertips so things are better, simplier and more advanced for me.
However, I do enjoy just dropping all technology sometimes and doing things the old fashionedd way, enjoying LIFE without all the xtra stuff.
In summary, I find all the amazing things that technology offers me great and helps people in so many ways every second but once in a while we should go back to the real world.

Survivorman and Man vs wild are related to times when you are alone , lost or not in your habitat and with limited resources. If you are in a colony/ group in a homely place things are not that hard. Creating fire or hunting also becomes easy.

First thing that I would worry about is my Paypal balance haha. How the hell can I withdraw the money if I can't use the internet anymore. Next I would worry about how to text my boyfriend, and I would worry about not earning on my loading business hahaha.

Well , i admit we are dependent on technology. It's the 21st century.
And i'm not complaining at all.
Why would i suffer going back to the basics which are usually tiresome and takes longer time when i can make use of modern technology to simplify things so i can do more things and have more relaxing time.

of course, we are too reliant on technology these days. we can't even think about life without cell phone, computer, internet, etc...at least for me. i still remember those days when i was even scared of touching the computer thinking what damage i might do to it! fast forward 10-12 years - and here i am not able to spend a single day without using my computer and accessing the internet almost daily! i don't think i can be the survivorman or man vs wild guy...i won't be able to survive like them in those situations! i can make fire using a matchstick or lighter, otherwise not...lol! technology and other advancements has made a great impact in our lives that we are too reliant on them now.

yes, we are. the one thing i dread to wake up one day without is when there is no electricity. i just can't imagine my life without electricity. it runs my fan, my water heater, my kettle, my microwave oven.....the list goes on. it obviously runs the technology we use at home...

You have a point there.. Hmm?..maybe if that happens, ill be a vegetarian. Ill just plant vegetables and trees and eat their fruits.. I think I can do that. Or maybe I could just ask my dad and my brother to hunt for me. I can still have shelter, because my father can build a house because he is an engineer, he knows how to build things. I dont know how to make fire, but ill try to learn. But either way, it will be so stressful for sure.
