Could responding from your e-mail be causing misunderstandings?

I was responding to my responders on my discussion just now and all of a sudden I get this comment from one of my friends, ive been friends with here a long time that seems totally out of context so im thinking, being the "give the benefit of doubt" kind of gal iam, maybe she was responding from her e-mail and forgot which discussion she'd responded to I certainly hope thats the case. PLEASE, IM not laughing at anyone. it happens. its happened to me. so iam now begining to wonder if that could be the source of misunderstandings here where it seems a lot of us thats been here a long time (some much longer then I) have been complaining about being abused on here by new ones. Have you ever responded from your e-mail, only to find out you said the wrong thing on the wrong discussion? LOL! I did it once and was so embarrassed I double check now.

Hi bunny, it is possible. sounds like something I would do. was it me? If it was, I'm really sorry. I do sometimes reply from my e-mail.

I can see where that might happen. I do use the navigator and enjoy it. I get alot more done. I have gotten confused before so I can see where that might happen alot especially if I have alot them coming in to me. I don't get the pictures and so forth that they send but that is okay I can get to them.

very good idea that navigator. but, yes, she did say she had meant the comment for another discussion. actually it was quite funny all in all. probably would have laughed your butte off to see my face when i first read it.

I don't but I haven't been on here that long. But since I have the discussion right above me I can check and recheck what I am doing. On another site that i do discussions on I have to hunt to find the discussion and read what I wrote the last time. I really like this sites set up much better. Plus here when ever you get a response they email and tell you. The other one doesn't so you have to go back through all your discussions and find them and then discover someone responded to something you said 3 days ago.

I have never responded to the wrong discussion, but when I respond from e-mail without reading the other responses first, sometimes I miss an important point.

I try to be careful when I'm responding, because I mostly respond from my emails, I try to respond to the ones I can. Its hasn't happened to me yet, but I'm being careful. I double check too...

Same here, I mostly respond from my emails, however, I tend to read again what I have responded to the thread before I really type my respond, that's why I seldom respond to wrong threads.

Hey bunny! I sure hope that it wasn't me! If it was you can tell me! I know that I get confused sometimes! I was kind of out of it when I was responding last night or should I say early this morning, but I don't remember responding to any of your discussions! Oh, guess I'm just being paranoid! Anyway, you know that I loves you so I don't think I would ever say anything that you couldn't come right to me to question! I do respond from my emails which means I don't read anyone elses responses first and sometimes I don't read them at all if I'm on a roll of responding! Depending on the discussion I might take a look, but then I get carried away and lose my train of thought because some of my friends discussions are so funny and crazy and go off in all kinds of tangents I try to stay focused and just concentrate of my responding!

hey kiddo, no, it wasnt you, but i do think the one i responded to one time with a weird response was yours a year or so ago. id gotten completely off track and was thinking of another one and responded wrong. anyway, my friend that did that today, ive talked to. the poor girl, she just thought it was a whole different one. shes apologized and everything. but shes a great friend. it just shook me because i didnt know what id said wrong, but it wasnt my discussion shed meant to respond to actually she did me a huge favor. she made me think of this discussion which seems to be going quite well. and ive been in a bit of a slump for making much time here lately. love you to dear opal. and yes, id tell you privately as i did her.

With a Friend yes I would say that can happen it has also happened to me in the past But when it comes to Strangers I think we know the difference Did you ever find out if she made a mistake

yes she did and she apologised. for her response had nothing to do with my discussion. she had just been in a heated debate on a political discussion. thats why i dont do those discussions i have enough people putting me down in real life without causing wrath on the internet

i am also responding to my friends discussions from email, but it never happened to me to respond out of context. and even if i respond from email, i always make sure to read the discussion clearly before i give my comments. maybe she had multiple tabs open with different discussions on each page and so she wrongly left a discussion which was for some other discussion.

Hello bunny I think mylotters mostly respond to a wrong discussion because they open several discussions at once and sometimes would mess them up. Like me, I am now having two discussions opened, so it may be easy to type wrong things on the wrong discussion. I mostly respond from emails, but I tend to read again what I have responded before I respond. Therefore, I still don't experience this embarrassing situation here.

that must really be what happened. ive never quite figured it out yet. i really dont know how they can have different discussion open at the same time to complicated for me i guess

I open up different discussion in different new window. I do that just because I don't want to miss the discussion I found it interesting. I have seen an interesting discussion that I wanted to responded but couldn't find it later, that's why I open a new window once I saw a topics I liked. It's not that difficult to do~~

Thankfully, I've never been in this situation, but it doesn't mean that it couldn't easily happen to me just like it happens to other people. Sometimes the responses that come through our inbox are from discussions that it has been a long time since we've taken part in. That is the reason that I will actually go back to the discussion and re-read it before I decided if there is anything additional that needs to be added to the discussion. But, yes, I do think that responding through email could most definitely be a cause of misunderstandings on this platform.

she has apologized and i had just assumed this is how it happened. but then again some here say it could have been that she had 2 or more discussions open. going back and forth and got the wrong one.

For me yes because if the one not understand about the topic then they will not entertain what about.

hi bunnybon wish that was the case with me but not the abuser really put me down as the old lady busybody, fault finding etc etc and you know what I did not give the benefit of the doubt as the person knew damned well whom he was talking to and I just hit the exclamation point and let mylot admins handle this spite. washed my hands of it.Iam very careful in responding to my email and its thunderbird which opens each up right in mylot so clear as crystal who I am responding to . love this new thunderbird by mozilla, best email server I ever had, and has various windows too. lovely.

im glad mozilla works so well for you. i never tried it for here. i tried it once for a thing i had to do on my game site and that was always a good way. i should maybe try it again but im so used to IE its just habit i guess.
