I have to admit that I am abit of a procrastinator, I often will put things off until they have to be done. Sometimes it is a project or somethng that I don't want to do. I don't really have an answer for why but I am trying to improve that part of my life since it adds to my stress. Even when I was in school, I would put papers off til the last day before they were due. Tho I would make sure I had any research materials or books that I would need. Then I would be completely focused on the project or paper. I always got very high grades so in that way procrastinating didn't hurt me but it sure added to some of the stress! Do you ever procrastinate? Do you know why? What have you done to overcome it?

YeS i do procrastinate sometimes. I just think that if i finish this work early, i can relax or have fun later. That motivates me to do my work.

That's a great attitude. I'll have to try and learn to do that more. Thanks for sharing! Take care.

Well for me it all depends on the task that you have to do if it is something enjoyable then we will be more likely to want to get to it right away, however if that task is something unenjoyable like for instance doing your taxes as an example most people especially if they will owe money will put that off until the last minute, because they are not in a rush to send the government more money. I think it all depends what it is that we have to do as most will put off a unenjoyable task till we absolutely have to do it as it is more then likely something that will not be much fun to do and sometimes the quicker we get to a task good or bad and get it over with the quicker we can get onto other things and something that might be more fun or relaxing and that can make for a better day in the long run. To answer your question I am not usually a person that puts things off till the last minute, but sometimes it is unavoidable when we get busy doing so many other things that we forget about other tasks that we had to do, but eventually we get to them and get them done even if we forgot about them to start with.

I think you hit on the mark, in thinking about it most of the things that I am prone to put off aren't fun. Tho when I was in college, it would have been better to do my papers and projects sooner just so that I wouldn't feel stressed. It was hard to motivate myself to do it since once I started I would work until it was done. And a 30 to 50 page research paper can take alot of time. I was lucky in that I am a good typist for the most part so wouldn't have to spend too much time checking for typo's and such. I am just not one of those people that could work on a paper and get say 25% done and then come back again to it later. And I always got very high marks so that didn't help with the procrastination part of it! I did at least check to make sure that I didn't owe any tax money so that wouldn't be a surprise. I wonder what folks who put it off to the last minute do if they don't have the money that is owed to pay the tax. I am trying to get better about it and reduce as much stress in my life as possible. Thanks for sharing, hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
