on sale products - on sale products!

Its the change of the season, there are lots of products has been tag "ON SALE" I came across a big department store here in my place and its really a big discount offer to a selected item and products. I get a closer look on the tag price and they just stick a red tag over the white tag of original price and I look over the inside price and to my surprised not even a cents discounted from the on sale price..What I had in mind was some people get fool about their understanding in the word "ON SALE".In my point of view somewhat maybe some item has been discounted but not all tagged "ON SALE PRICES" were reduced priced. They intend to change the colour tag to attract consumers/customers. However I don't mean I'm out for the on sales products, just I'M NOT FULLY CONVINCE I respect everybody's opinion and views regarding this topic.. Good day everyone!!

hello cloud, yeah i agree with you. its one kind of strategy for the stores to get attention and higher sales. i know that there are still some products that really are with discount but again i think the store do earn from it, they will never make a move that just bring loss to them. i remember in one mall here as well, they are having a big sale for some items like a50% off and yes t true that its discounted, but upon taking a closer look with the product...some are already damaged...

My iloemi, I have you for my dinner. I'm totally with you too, their strategy doing this just to make a good sales and profit and it can lead customers to buy the items which actually not much discount and have some damage in the item ,its a kind of waste actually. Thank you for your response.Good day

I could believe that some places if not all places do this. they try to fool people into believing that some of the things they wouldn't normally buy is on sale so that they can get the item to be sold more, if that makes any sense. I think for the most part tricks like that are targeted to the buyers who don't normally purchase that brand as the ones that normally do would know there's no difference in the price.

Hi cloud! The tags of 'sale' are attached only to attract customer. A shopkeeper will not sell his stuff at discounted price and make him suffer loses. I believe the tag of 'sale' is just to lure the gullible customer and we do not get good things in the bargain. I prefer not to go for 'sale' stuff.

The department stores will create all kind of gimmicks to draw customers especially during this time of the year where shoppers are keeping 'low profile' as there isn't good reasons to buy clothings, shoes etc..as all major festivals have passed. And on top of that people are adopting frugal life as the recession has forced them to tighten their belts. These hungry businessmen are forced to put up big banners to indicate that they are 'ON SALE' but in actual fact it is only a ploy to attract customers. There might be a slight discount on certain items but they are still not cheap. They can fool some but they can't trick everyone.

Hi zandi, Absolutely, its a business trick though we cannot blame them doing so,to make business. But sometimes its unreasonable being fooled too, I agree with you that they have a lot of strategy to make business and attracts customers, and we (customers should be wise enough to deal with sales products. The red tag sale is just one of many gimmicks used by businesses to get people to buy. I rarely buy things "on sale"; I buy things I need and only after I've shopped around for the best price. (I'm not much of a shopper in the first place; it's just something that has to be done now and then.)

Usually when there is a sale, not every rack of clothes or other things are on sale. They don't usually put it as selected items of some sort. It ends up that only 1/4 of the objects found are on sale and the rest are not. Damn!

Hi cloudie! Yes I agree that ON SALE items are really hot for buyers eyes. But smart buyers don't easily fall with this kind of promo. In fact those items are quite dangerous and serves as temptations. Sometimes there's a negative reasons behind it. We should just be careful coz sometimes instead of saving, if the item you got didn't make you contented, it's even worse and becomes even more expensive. Yes, I do buy on sale items, but I made it sure first that the item is still in excellent condition. We have to check every parts of it if there's no damage or something. But still, there are really ON SALE products that are worth buying for. Addition to that, when a boutique or a store has many on sale or discounted items, it will attract more people, so it will be crowded, we should avoid to mix up with many people, because pickpockets are always present in that situation. We really better be careful and cautious. Have a nice day IJ! Happy myLotting!

Hello Mark, Thank you for those advises, its true sometimes buyers gets fool with those kind of strategy, but I hope they will have more careful when dealing with sales item, especially when price suddenly drops, there must be some reasons and something had to be concerned when planning to purchase those kind of products, and also its true that when in crowded places it attracts someone to make an stupid moves, especially when people are just busy ,so should be cautious at anytime. Thank you for sharing and Happy myLotting!

When you are buying things that are on sale, you really have to know a lot about them to make sure that they truly are on sale. I am a person that constantly shops the sales racks and the clearance racks at local stores, but I won't buy anything unless I know that it is a bargain. I absolutely hate to spend full price or even close to full price on an item because I know that the stores are making a large margin of profit on full priced items. Thus, if you don't know the original prices of items, try to stay away from them.

Hi Miss cloud!! Right! That's what we call business strategy, sometimes they really reduces the price, but they still have a profit on it, also they really sale it because it's old from the stock and they have to sold it by reducing the price. For me, im not really attracted/convince those "ON SALE" items. Have a nice day!!! GBU...

Hi sky, You have a good point on that! They have their reason to tag it on sale though its kind of stock which and not much difference from the original price, I hope costumers will have it check twice before buying the item.. Thank you for sharing and Have a nice day yourself too

You have to make it a game. They do. You have to be very careful. With the computer reading the tags, they have a tendency to mark the item but not change the computer. Sometimes they change the computer and not the tags. My husband has a hard time to buy items that are lower than marked. Just a game, but when you buy many items you can not keep up with cash register and boy have they gotten me.

I do agree with you.I avoid to shop those on sale. In our place even some companies produce new products which are only meant or tagged for sale or just to attract customers & they are just cheap in quality.People should be aware of such strategies and stop making fool of themselves.
@cloud31 (5809)

I do think that there are times that things that are supposedly on sale aren't really on sale. However, I am always able to find a good deal on things because I know what the normal prices of things are. It is actually a very rare thing that I pay regular price for something that I would like to get. Most recently I've been doing a lot of shopping online at Amazon because of the fact that I am able to save a lot of money on there and I also am able to earn Amazon gift cards from the computer so I'm really not spending money at all.

I worked in a retail store before, and I know a little bit about sales and tagging of products on the floor. A red tag doesn't necessarily mean it's on sale. It could just mean that it's the last of these items and the red tag helps identify it. It's unfortunate that people take it to mean a 'sale' upon seeing the red tag. Just nobody explains it to the customers, because it doesn't hurt the sales of the stores.

sale, per se, is not having real and tangible discounts. it is for the uninitiated, of course. as a matter of fact, sale pricing only reflects the real and actual value of a product sold. those regular price tags on items not included in sales sure reflect the value added by the store... that's how i see them, my dear cloud.

hi cloud, there are sale items worth buying. i normally hunt for books. i love to look for d.i.y. books or recipes and the like. i do look around for paintings and things considered antique.
