Food Stamps

So since my hubby has become unemployed (first time since he was 15), so many people have told us to go on to Food Stamps. Now we have savings and will get unemployment, which we can make last quite a while until he finds a new job, but after so many people told us to look into it I did and I was astounded at how much a family can make and still qualify for. I am a practical person and I think I will fill out to get the stamps as this would make meeting our budget much easier. Is on anyone on Food Stamps now and if so how is it working for you? I really have no clue how it works so any one who can give me advice please do so.

I have been on food stamps and one thing I didn't like is that the state keeps an eye on you. If you gain any assets, money, or anyone moves in or out you have tell them immediately. You have to fill out paper work constantly and I hated having them know my business. It is a help but is it worth it?

I do agree with you. It just gets pretty frustrating sometimes. It seems that the innocent people pay for the bad ones.

So true! Not in all cases but it seems like alot of them anyway.

I know and the fact that they don't seem to weed out the abusers but seem to be able to weed out the needy makes it worse.

The thing about food stamps is they are not always free. Some years ago I wanted to get them. I was eligible but found that I would be paying more for them than I was for my food at that time. so be sure to find out if they really are a help.

You are the first person I have heard of that had to pay for food stamps, seems to defeat the purpose. Though I have heard of them being paid back for time when living status had changed but the assistance office had not be told.

I'd rather see someone like u get them than alot of folks that get them that don't deserve them because they are too darn lazy to work & provide for their family. There alot of folks doing that. I hope your husband finds work soon. I have no info to give u because i don't get them.
