My colleague was cheated when she used QQ. It is a chatting software like MSN. She received a friend's message from her list of QQ. Her "friend" asked her to help to buy something via the net. It is the visual equipment of the online game CS. Although she felt strange, but she still paid for him. Then this one asked her to buy more and it made her hesitate and then got offline. Next day she made a call to her friend and finally she learned that his QQ account was hacked. This is a cheater rather than her friend.
So if someone asks you to help to pay something online, even this one is from your list. You have to keep alert and keep asking many personal questions to make sure the right identification. The cheaters are all around.

I have bought something for a friend, via the net, but I volunteered to do so, and I was talking to her by phone. You are very right that when we are too trusting we end up possibly risking what we have.

Hi, friend. Such things are not uncommon these days. Actually, a little while ago, one of my classmates wanted to borrow money from all students of the same class while chatting online. He made some convincing excuses and did succeed a few times. As he himself is a reliable person, none of us even thought of doubting about the authenticity of it. A few days later, this friend called all the other classmates to clarify all about it. It turned out that he never tried to borrow money and he was totally ignorant of this trick. Though feeling sorry for those being deceived, he could do nothing but reminded us to be alert next time.

Hello youless. You are right to say that we need to keep alert to avoid believing things online so easily when it comes to paying for something by one of our "friends" on our friend list, as any number can be stolen by someone who is good at doing that kind of stuff. So it is always better to keep alert than not. Thank you for the discussion, youless. Take care.

Hi, youless. I would not help someone pay for something online.. If anything, I will send them a money order through the mail. I want a receipt. Being online is scary, you just never know who is out to get ya.
I am sorry about this happening to your colleague. I know that she will be more skeptical of helping someone out the next time, and I don't blame her. It is so sad how others can purposely take advantage of a friend.

Really youless, nowadays many people want to get rich or make ample profit faster without much effort. Therefore there are always people with malicious motive lurking around, offline or online to hunt for prey to make big money. So we must always be alert not to fall in their trap easily. Thanks for starting this topic to remind us to be on the alert always.
I feel sorry to learn that your colleague was one of those unlucky prey
I hope she will learn a good lesson after this. Yeah, it's always safe not to help our friends or any other close ones to pay money online. Even if the person I know very well really needs money. I will insist him or her to get the money in person but not to pay via internet straight away. If he lives in distant place I would like to bank in money to his account. We can see all the important particulars of the person clearly on the atm screen before making the deposit
Take care and have a nice day

hi youless yes you just really have to be alert always. as you do not really know an internet friend at all,he or she could be just fine
or on the other hand they may not be fine. I would not buy anything for a person I had never met in person.Yes you should indeed ask many questions and yet I just think its best not to ever do that. just learn to say no if someone you only know on the net asks you to buy anything for him or her.

yes.we should always keep alert in our daily life.not only on the QQ,but also on our message, credit card.I heard that many parents had received message from their daughter or son' number about that he/she need money at school and please transfer it into a special credit card.but, actually this is just a big fraud from a thief who steel their daughter or son's cellphone.
if i meet this, and i hope every one meet this, should have a phone to assure it before you transfer money or something.
