Recently I have been having difficulty starting-up my laptop and I can seem to find a solution on the net. When i turn on my laptop it either has a black/blank page with a small white square or several lines or bars that are moving on the page. Have you experienced this? Is this an LCD problem or video card problem? Help.

What do you know about Toshiba that makes you dislike it? I've been using Toshiba laptops for years and I think it's a really good brand. I've seen some HP (that some consider as most reliable) to have a lot of technical flows, so it is not about the brand - these are machine so anything happens...

Oh boy from the way you describe your problem, it could be that LCD is the problemin there. I think time to go to your computer repair shop to have it checked. I suspect that it may be a hard ware problem and not a software glitch. Do you still hear the usual beeps when turning one your laptop?

To check if it was the video card or the lcd that causes the problem. Try to connect to an external monitor or lcd to your laptop and if the display is gone then it's probably your lcd screen if is not then it's the video card. Either of the two situation you need to bring it to your local shop were you purchased it. It can be replace for free if is still on warranty if not your out luck co'z the parts are quit expensive.

Could you check if your computer is beeping? More than one beep means that it is probably a video card problem, or in the case that you computer does not beep (when it was still working) and is now suddenly beeping might mean the same as above. You could also check if the hard disk is rotating. It's that whirring sound you hear everytime you power up your laptop. If the whirring lasts like the usual whirring ( more or less 30 seconds) then the problem might be with your LCD. is you screen wobbly? I used to have a toshiba laptop and my LCD screen's broken. It suddenly displays several colors then a blank white screen (scary). and it's color is off. Hope this helps

From my experience it was the video card. But if you really want to check your LCD screen connect your laptop to an external view such as a tv or a projector. That's all I can say but I'm saying that from my experience so you probably should get information from other sources too.
