Before anyone gets on to me for being offensive, please read the whole post. For several weeks now there has been a commercial on TV about an upcoming event, Extreme Midget Wrestling. It will be taking place at a casino here in my state. Apparently, they travel around to do shows. Anyway, some of you may have seen shows on TLC that feature little people. And little people or being called a dwarf is what they said they prefer.
I guess the men in question who do Extreme Midget Wrestling may have had dreams of being an actual wrestler when they grew up. I guess this is a good way of achieving one's dreams, although I can't imagine being called a midget would feel very good. However, it would certainly get one's attention. Perhaps some people of such short stature don't care? It isn't because they can't get work of course. I think the familes of little people we have seen on TV have proved to any doubters that little people can do anything they want to, they just may have to do it in a different way.
What do you think? Have you ever heard of such a bizarre event? Maybe it is the name of the event that makes me think it is so bizarre...

I've heard of Midget Wrestling. I've heard of Extreme Wrestling. But I haven't heard of or seen Midget Extreme Wrestling. Since I'm not fond of "pro" wrestling, I doubt I'd ever go to watch such an event. The drawfs wrestling wouldn't make me any more fond of pro wrestling. To me, it's all a farse (even though I do know they actually get hurt "performing").

I enjoyed the high school wrestling tournament I went to this spring. That was because I got to speak with the people and see the guys really work hard. Only kind of wrestling I like, however.

I think the rule is, if you call yourself a name it is okay, but no one else better do it. I personally liked the term midget better than dwarf, but it is not my body. I think of midgets as being perfectly proportioned in every way, but smaller. Extreme sports of any kind concern me. I like High School wrestling, but not televised wrestling. I do know that little people are or can be very accomplished.

And on the other hand, my adult disabled clients who would call themselves BAD names, I would tell them not to call my friend that name, and they enjoyed that.

Strange but these days anything goes in the name of entertainment. I can't say that this kind of show would appeal to me but I'm sure the participants enjoy their work

Events like that highly gather and draw up crowds. And we have to admit that, that is sometimes a way to measure how interesting a certain activity is. For me there is nothing offensive about it unless the audience start humiliating or discriminating these people. For me, it would be fun, unique, creative, and it will surely expose their talents despite their size.

Hi Ambie
No I have never heard of this event before
The little People have certainly proved that they can do anything they want, it is like little Dogs though
They might be little but they know how to look after themselves and do what they want to do

I think that many little people use their stature for typecasting to get roles. I've seen it on numerous TV shows and stuff like that. But perhaps its because they have such a hard time working at other jobs.

hi ambiepam I also think they would rather be called little people than midgets.I think the name makes it sound more bizarre than perhaps it
really is, as why not wrestling as i think any group of people tall short or inbetween have a right to pick some sport that they excell
at and really make a go of it. So yes why not little people have
wrestling contests? good for them I think. so they may do things
a little differently, even us just short people have to take step
stools to reach high shelves.

It is nice that they can recognize their dream. I guess extreme dwarf wrestling or extreme little people wrestling doesn't have the same kick. I just think of that show with Matt Roloff and his family, and how they said they hated the word midget because they found it degrading. But then again, perhaps some little people don't find that insulting.

I have never heard of midget wrestling and I doubt very much I would enjoy it because wresting of any kind has never appealed to me and I don’t watch it. It sure sounds different. I suppose people who are smaller should wrestle with people of a similar size or it would not be fair...Uhmmm...Different...

If it has stunts like in ecw then i'd be interested to watch. I like rey mysterio stunts and backflips and those daredevil moves from the top turn buckle. I don't care if they're midgets. As long as they look awesome out there then it's cool with me.
