How do you feel about GM saying they have paid is back?.

I'm glad they were able to pay it back but I don't agree with bailing out failing companies. Let the free market system work--businesses who don't manage themselves well will fail and someone else will open one that will succeed. They will probably learn from their predecessor's failures and be a stronger business for it. If a business is too big to fail--it should fail.

I have a hard time believing the entire bail out was paid back, and so quickly too! I think mr Barehugs is quite likely right. As far as loaning money to corporations, I think we should not be providing support to the giant companies that should be doing so well. I possibly would like to see some kind of a support fund for small businesses to help them survive and thrive.

No, GM has not paid the money back, they have just paid the loan part, which is just a small amount of the bail-out money. The remainder will never be paid back, but the Governments of the US and Canada, are off the hook and longer have any say in the operation of GM.

I just wish they would now payback my losses from being a bond holder.

I have seen the commercial but Sorry I don't believe they paid anyone back. How and when did this happen. Don't you think that would have been on the news programs. I can't believe the President of the company because I find it hard to believe anyone who is head of a company. They will say anythng to make themselves look good.

I wondered the same thing? Was it really paid back? I'm glad they did, if it's true. As for loaning company's money to survive, I am really not a fan. Do we really need the gov't to have a financial stake in the success of a company? The USSR had gov't run auto companies and the cars made were such junk.

Oh baloney!! I dont believe one word of this. We've lost that money, dont think you'll ever see the color of it. Why we got involved in the first place is beyond me...someone must have known someone What about you, do you believe it??????
