David Daniel Kaminski aka Danny Kaye was one of the finest comedians Hollywood has ever seen. He was so natural that one would burst into laughter just looking at his extremely expressive face. He acted in some unforgettable films like Inspector General, The Court Jester, Knock on Wood, The Five Pennies, White Christmas, The Pied Piper, Hans Chistian Anderson and others. His style of acting, the naughty glint in his eyes and saucy manner endeared him to all his fans. Not only that he had a good voice and he sang his own songs in his inimitable style.I am sure many mylotters of my generation who were young would have been his fans. at least i was and i count him amongst my most favourite actors.so what do you guys think of Danny Kaye? Have i again revived old memories?

You mentioned some of my favourite movies "The Five Pennies" and "White Christams" all because of Danny Kaye's wonderful performances in them. I need to get myself a copy of Hans Christian Anderson because I've not seen it since my childhood and would love to see it again. They certainly don't make them like Danny Kaye anymore.

I am a huge Danny Kaye fan (though he lived before my time)!! I have even played the movies for my son when he was younger and he is a fan as well. I just loved watching (on tv) Hans Christian Anderson as a child and into my 20s. I just love everything he has done. Thanks for the wonderful memories!

I liked Danny Kaye a lot, also Jon Pertwee, sometimes called the "British Danny Kaye" and then his 60's version, DickVanDyke. (sorry, won't post if you separate it) I'm not a BIG comedy fan, but there's a difference between Danny Kaye's humor and many other kinds.

I really enjoyed Danny Kaye. I think my favorite movie of his was The Court Jester. Fun and games. He also had a show on television for awhile. He was great both in dance and comedy. He had a great smile. I think he was the one who Shirley MacLaine talks about having an affair with in one of her books.

Hi Vijay yes you have. I remember he was one of the best comedians of that time when I was in school & I have seen all his movies- I was in school that time and every time his pix came to the Eros theater in Churchgate- and then Saturday being a holiday my mother used to take me there for his movies. And at the same time his contemporary and fellow comedian - Norman Wisdom - do not forget him - he was also very funny. I have seen all the films of both these funny guys; unfortunately neither their films are shown these days nor are any CDs / DVDs of them available, I think those were the best days for the films and for me personally too. Also do not forget the Dean Martin-Jerry Lewis combo!!! and Sammy Davis too. All were my favourites

Oh I loved Danny Kaye! He was one of my favorite old time movie star actors. He never had to be the main attraction. He always seemed to steal every scene just by being the sidekick, or the supporting role in the films he was in. White Christmas is one of my favorites. I'll also never forget his guest starring role in an episode of The Cosby Show. He was hilarious!
