How did your pet find you?

Did you buy your pet from a store, a breeder? Adopt them from a shelter? A family? We got our husky mix from a family giving away puppies. My mom was working in the E.R. at our hospital when little boy & father came in. The little boy was getting a fever checked out. While my mom was taking his vitals, he kept talking about how his dog just had puppies and he was helping taking care of them. But his parents said they had to find a homes for them. Then asked my mom "You take care of people REAL good, do you want a puppy at your home?" My mom smiled and later asked the boy's father information about the puppies. She came home from work and asked my sister & I if we wanted a puppy, which came completely out of the blue. Later that day, we went to go pick out a puppy. A little black & white puppy that came out the dog house last ended up becoming part of our family that day. 10 years later, Charlotte is still part of the family.

They always miss us. I have always tried to have at least 2 pets so they would not be so lonely when I was at work.

My little brother's friend has two dogs who had babies. The male dog is a boxer and the mother is a pitbull. He told me about it and I really wanted to get a dog. So the girl sold me one of the girls for $20 dollars. I've always thought of adopting and taking in a dog but I never got around to it. I just saw this opportunity where they were just a couple of blocks away so I decided to go for it. Now my little baby is around eight months old and is the sweeteset thing ever. She's also very beautiful. When I get my own place I will probably get another dog and that time I will probably adopt because there are a lot of dogs that need homes.

Pitbulls are really sweet dogs but sometimes one will be dog aggressive. I love the breed and hope I can afford one someday, right now I have 2 cats and a dog which is a lot for me.

We only ever got one pet from a store and one other from the SPCA. The rest have wandered into our lives some how. Our cat, or should I say my daughter's cat, was from her uncle who found a very emancipated momma and kittens in a spare tire at work one day. Our lab was actually thrown out a car window into the street by some maniac in front of my husbands work one morning (I am glad because she is the best dog a person could ever ask for), and our hound was from a friends brother who was going to bring him to the SPCA. The dog we had before was found by a truck driver in TX just wandering around as a pup not even on solid food yet and when he pulled into my hubby's shop he took him to bring home for our kids. Our Rabbit was from the store as the SPCA didn't have any at the time and my husband was set on getting one for the kids. As for the cat from the SPCA, we stopped with donations from a church fundraiser and my youngest and the kitty just immediately bonded. When your 2 yr. old turns around squeezing a 5 month old kitten as hard as she can and all the kitty does is hug back and purr loud enough to be heard over barking dogs you know that she belongs in the family.

No clue but as I said she is the best dog we have ever had. Obedient, great with the kids, friendly yet protective. I dread the day we lose her.

We've had a few dogs here. The first one I remember as a child was Takeshi, a cocker spaniel we got from a relative who's dog had puppies. Then we had Strider, a yellow lab from a friend of a friend who couldn't keep the dog anymore. After both those dogs passed we got Sammo, our Siberian Husky/ Timber Wolf from a husky rescue society. Following that we got Sasha, my Chow Chow from a boyfriend's family. Now we have two terrier mixes (Allie and Layla) that we rescued from the animal shelter and a cat (Kelli) I got from a pet store 15 years ago. We had started out not going to shelters but quickly learned it's a great way to get a good pet and it's possibly saving that animal's life. Now I have to force myself to stay away from the shelter until I have room for another dog because I always want to bring them all home!

hiii msmrisk Well my cat was adopted from street.Yes she was a stray cat kitten when i bring her home.Probably some lad left poor kitten on street as she/he wasnt able to afford so many cats at home. This type of things happen here often. She wasnt much healthy when i bought her at home but eventually her health increased and now its been more than one year she is inseparable part of our family.

My cody came to me by another family member. My sister-in-law had just had a baby and couldn't deal with two kids and a 1 year old dog. Her husband was taking the dog to the pound. On the way there he stopped by to ask if we were interested in taking the dog. At first I thought how could we handle this because we both worked and my daughter was not going to help out. Cody is a shih tzu black and white and he is so cute that I said I will try it out for two weeks. Well that is 11 years ago and he will now be 12 come June. He is my protector and loves to just sit by me wherever I am.

Our lab we bought from a pet store. Our mix breed we rescued off the street. We were fostering him until a rescue group could find a home for him for us, but we ended up adopting him ourselves. Our cat was a stray. The pet store I worked at took her in and she was our store mascot, having free roam of the store. Then the store went out of business and I took her home to live with us cause I was VERY attached to her. Our betta fish came from a pet store. 2 of my pet rats came from a store where they were going to be snake food! 1 of them came from a girl who had adopted her but found out she was allergic. And 1 came from my cousins fiance who had 2 rats, one male and one female and decided to give up the female so I took her.

We have a ten month old Labrador named Diego. He was from my brother-in-law and it's like we have adopted him. He's a big dog but he's sweet and guards our house really well =)
