I have heard of a cougar, even a puma but how about "manther"?
For those of us that are a little behind -
from the urban dictionary -
Cougar - An older woman who frequents clubs in order to score with a much younger man
Puma - A woman who is not quite old enough to be a cougar, but still likes to date/mate with younger men.
Manther - The male version of a cougar; an older man who preys on younger women.
So.... do you fall under any of these labels? I am still just a puma

Ha! Never heard of a puma or a manther either. Good labels lol. I don't fit any of those categories, although I did date a younger man once. To look at him we all thought he was the same age, or older, than I was. So I guess that's not cougar, just ill informed haha. (It was one of those: can't judge a book by his cover) I have met many manthers over the years though. When you think about it, it's odd that over the years nobody ever thought it was strange that older men dated and married much younger women, but when women started doing it too it became a big social buzz. Go figure?!

Lol... This is the most interesting post here... Well.. I didn't know these exact definitions, thanks for the information....
I wouldn't fall under 'Cougar' or 'Puma', because I am a man... And I won't fall under 'Manther' either, because I am a young man... Isn't there any term for young men looking out for ladies?
...
thanks for this interesting topic... have fun!

Hi Laglen! I think a cougar is not only the older women that frequents clubs, but just women that date or have a relationship with men very much younger. There is also the term "Sugar mommy" or "Hot mommas"..LOL...
...I don't think I fall under any of these labels. I don't like dating younger men. I prefer older men, like 2 to 5 years older than me. Because they are much mature (hopefully, but sometimes not..LOL...) And they know what they want. (^^,)

I hate these terms. I can't bring myself to watch the new Courtney Cox show, "Cougartown." I did watch the first show, but haven't kept up. It is a funny show, but just the idea of a cougar makes me feel queezy. I have dated younger men, but it's not like I dated them just because they were younger or that I was "on the prowl." I tend to look much younger than I am, so it doesn't look out of place.

Guarantee you go to any bar and look for the manthers and you will see some of the funniest characters ever. I just think of a manther as a sharply dressed older gentlemen with slicked back hair and a moustache that demands respect. Funny post lol.

I had never heard of these names/titles before perhaps it is because I have never fallen under any of these labels. I suppose I am just a spoiled, happy house cat.

I am none of the above. My husband is actually only two months older than me...hehe. My mother would be a cougar, though. Her husband is 13 years younger than she is. I guess that would make my father a manther then since my mother is 13 years younger than him. It's a vicious cycle. xD
It's interesting, though, how all sorts of cultures relate these characteristics to carnivores. I've always wondered why that is? In Spanish, for example, el tiburón (literally a shark) is a guy that steals other guy's girlfriends (sometimes called "ballers" in English).
